The brindle leads us to pitbull terrier, plott hound, and great dane -- I agree with Molly.
The ears (the gsd was crossed with something longer eared) -- that doesn't rule out any of the above three. But it does rule out Dutch shep.
Geography may rule out Plott -- are they uncommon in your area?
If it's an urban humane society, that raised the probability of pit.
As Molly says, what size is it? And how old? If under 7 months, the ears may still go up!

Alternatively: the brindle and shep side could be Dutch shepherd. Then the cross could be with MANY BREEDS.

For all you know, that dog hasn't had a purebred ancestor for several generations, not that it matters if you like the dog. There are some great dogs in Shelters.
However, for the record, I agree with Molly....
Dane, Pitt Bull, Plott...Definitely could have one or more there...Though the head doesn't look much like Pitt. A profile of the body might give more idea, but then again, it would still be just a guess.

As for the dog, the skull structure and ear size and shape does indicates some GSD (possibly dane, how big is the dog and are the growth plates very large?), probably with some bully breed. Most mixes are from common breeds. Looks like a cute Heinz 57 to me.

Read an article where a lady with a purebred am-staff, black/white spotted - generations of am-staffs in his pedigree - did the dna "mixed breed id" test - and it came back border collie, jack russell terrier and pomeranian or some such thing. So no, I wouldn't trust that dna test.

my brother had 2 of the and excpet for the semi erect ears they're a dead match.
not even close to a pit bull - pit's carry over their wide faces and short snouts 80++ % of the time.
