I bought a farm yesterday, too!
http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?propertyId=8460071
Part of me is still thinking: Sunny, you're NUTS! You got no husband to help you out, no kids. You'll have to rely on friends and neighbours for stuff you can't do yourself...
Well as those of you who live in rural areas know, neighbours in the country are much closer than city neighbours. Heck, I've lived in apartments where I didn't even know my neighbours by name, nor did I WANT to know them!! But here, it's different.
Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to live on a farm. One thing about getting older, you start to realize if you don't pursue your dreams, you're going to lose them. Like the old Rolling Stones song says, "Catch your dreams before they slip away..."
So, yesterday, that's exactly what I did!
Of course, one of the outbuildings is going to become kennel space, and I'm no longer bound by the 2 dog per house restriction we have in town here. That was a REAL bummer after Star turned out to be dysplastic. I had one neutered male dog (rescue, also does duty as my service dog.) and one female that was sold to me as show quality and breeding quality, and turned out to be neither. Great. There went my dreams of showing and possibly breeding, since I'm not the sort that's going to just sell off a dog I've had since puppyhood because she doesn't meet my expectations. Yeah, it hurt like hell, though, especially when certain people said my dog was a 'POS'!
There is valuable timber at the back of the farm, which I am going to sell off so I can make improvements to the house, barn and chicken coop (which will become kennel space.) The outbuildings are in great shape, and only need to be converted, not repaired. Oh, and another bonus is I'll have LOTS of room to practise tracking now! WOOOHOOOO!!
I have some other good news, too. As some of you may know, I am severely hard of hearing. Last year I had 30% hearing left in my left ear, and only 10% in the right. Since then, the good ear has also dropped to 10%. The upside of this abrupt loss is I am now deaf enough to qualify for a cochlear implant! Surgery is tentatively set for January 14th. No, I'm not thrilled at having to drive to Toronto at that time of year, but maybe they can get me a cancellation for sooner. I CAN'T WAIT!! Maybe I'll be able to go back to nursing again, and earn some REAL money!

So, Bob, wanna come and help me get my new kennel off the ground?
There's LOTS of room!
Of course, you have to be able to put up with a bit of the white stuff during winter! (See my "Winter Wonderland" link in the retirement thread for details...)
BTW, there are a couple of mistakes in the ad. There are about 60 acres of cleared pasture, and over 100 acres of bush. There's also a beaver pond on the property! (Fortunately far enough away as to not to cause trouble with flooding...LOL! Canada's national rodent can be a bit of a pest sometimes!)

Very nice indeed...You'll certainly enjoy your time there and have plenty of room for your dogs without having someone complaining about the barking and so forth...
Good Luck...

Congratulations! Are you going to run any cattle? Certainly have enough land to feed yourself and the doggies.

This is a beautiful farm - congrats - when do you move in? You only live once and might as well whoop it up while you can....
