I had planned on getting a new large pick-up truck, but with the price of gas continuing to skyrocket, it has forced me to think of a more economical vehicle and a dog trailer. What kind of trailers do some of you have? What about single vs. double axle? What about diamond plate vs. aluminum, etc.? I'd appreciate any insights, as this will be a fairly large investment. Thanks. Dennis

I have a custom made Jones Trailer, 6 stall (with large stall option), made of stainless steel. It is a single axel and has the largest fan, but no air conditioning. I live in Colorado and have never even used the fan as the trailer stays cool. I had them put inner bar doors inside the exterior solid door with windows so that I could leave the doors open and have good ventilation. It has a larger storage space, a 20 gallon water tank, a luggage rack on top and a step around the unit. It was expensive, but it is an excellent trailer. I have used the trailer multiple times and have never regretted the investment. It is stable and easy to pull with my suburban. I can take all my SchH equipment with me on or inside the storage space, if needed. In short, Jones makes excellent trailers. Theirs are cheaper if not out of stainless, but stainless holds its' value better. They have a variety of excellent options, and the inner bar doors were my idea, yet they found a way to do it. I highly recommend their trailers and their staff is friendly, helpful and easy to work with. The trailer was done exactly when they said it would be done. Good luck.

I have a 6 dog Jones Schutzhund with the high capacity fan. Dual axle, water tank, interior doors and louvered exterior. It's aluminum, not stainless. I'm happy.

I have a WT Metall Trailer. I love it, it pulls well, lightweight but very sturdy. I wouldn't trade it for anything! We traded in our big F350 and it tows well behind our new F150, only changes our gas mileage by .5 a gallon (mostly towing in mountainous terrain). Here is a link to their site: http://www.wt-metallwest.com/ Jean-Luc and Pam are great to work with.

I would also recommend the Jones 6 stall schutzhund model or 8 stall model if needed. The Jones trailers are built for North America and long distance travel

Thanks for the replies I've gotten so far. I'll let you know when I finally decide on one. In Europe, at least Italy, nobody had pick-up trucks. Everyone had small economy vehicles and dog trailers, or a few had vans. I think thats the way to go. Thanks again. Dennis

Here is the website for Gla-wel trailers in Germmany. I have the 4 stall dual axel with 2 way fan and am very happy with it. Look at the picture and see what is pulling the 6 stall trailer. http://www.gla-wel.de/hund.htm Kyle

I recomend the Sperrin four berth schutzhund model. It much lighter than the Jones trailers, better built than the WT, and is now availaible in the U.S.
