Sorry to hear of yours and others loss of Monte.
Abby will not replace him but just fill the hole and they will love her just the same.

The pup YellowRose is talking about is one of Abby's pups. I believe Abby was also victim to a snake bite...Seems like those blasted snakes are making life in Texas pure hell.
YR and her son have killed so many snakes that it's sickening, but still they come.

Yes , Cys and I did not have the heart to tell them Abbey had been bitten by a copperhead in May...I was afraid that he would not understand what or why and would make his depression worse...Monte's owner even scared the grandkids by saying he wanted to die with Monte...they didnt want to go home that week end from the farm in case Grandpa really did die...Funny how kids zero in on what we grownups say...and they worry and get concerned..
Yes, Abby lost 4 of her 7 pups to a copperhead..but she is fine now...I had a time stuffing her with probiotics and lots of raw meat and goodies to redo what a snake undid....
The three pups are every so vital and healthy..They are spitten image of their dad when he was 14 weeks old and their gr grand sire Dax in Galveston..The male pup that the kids want Grandpa to get is actually the 4h Dax that I have produced...in other words the 4th breeding that has pulled the exact same looking pup , same marking, same deep look in eyes and same body structure and temperament They all look like clones....
At least I can have the good feeling about I can replace Monte with a link to Monte and Abby is his sister and the pup will be one of her males out of Bear Jerome son which is Monteforthalle/korbelbach dog...as a Uran v Wildsteigerland /Tiekerhood grgrandson... Monte also was Tiekerhook grgrandson sired...and same top line as Abbey.
Copperheads do not usually cause fatal death except when bitch is in whelp...most dogs just swell and are fine after three days....but when pups are involved in whelp they can bleed out which is what they did....and were born dead in sac with no blood in them
Watermoccasins are deadly also to people and so is the reattlesnake. Last week on Animal Planet they had a series on snake bites that some have survived from...venomous snakes.
