We were trying for the lunker Walleye but with no sucess we did end up with several nice large mouth Bass, a Northern Pike, and some Blue Gill Sunnies.

When it comes to fishing, sometimes it really is more about the journey than the destination.  I would say those pictures indicate it was a truly marvelous trip.  I would give my eye teeth to be there with my dog right about now!

sounds like you brought home supper............fresh blue gill perch, it just doesn't get any better!

well maybe, fresh brookies are the best, expecially the small ones!

looks like a good time was had by all!

Yes, we had ourselves a fish fry I don't mind cleaning fish but this was the first time I fillet a northern and man I hate those "Y" bones, I'd take a stringer of small pan fish any day of the week yum! It is so beautiful in the BWCA.

Hi from a "part time" Ely girl..  now located elsewhere:(

Folks have a place on Little Long Lake.  My dad had a boy's camp for my first 12 years of life there. Gorgeous wilderness.

NOTHING better than frying up some walleye lakeside at camp.  Did you catch any of those Northern Pikes?  quite the fighters!

If you get a chance check out the International Wolf Center in Ely....have a captive wolf pack and great information. I think my love of the german shepherd  began in those Northern Woods as a child listening to the beautiful howls.....still love it when "my" pack howls here with the coyotes.....

Dawgesome,
Nice pics.  I've been to the BWCA twice camping and canoing when I was in High school and the summer before I went to college.  What a great place, beautiful lakes and some excellent fishing.  I was there in the early 80's.  Caught some nice pike, they are a blast to catch.

My only problem was I didn't know what "near beer" was at the time.  We bought a few cases of the stuff.  We soon learned, the second trip we brought our own beer all the way from NY.

Jim
