Hello there,

I would appreciate any comments & evaluations on this hips' x-ray of a 6 month old GSD female.

Thanks in advance ALL.

poor quality xray.  unfortunately, your dog has a serious problem that will not be improved by a re-xray.  the acetabullum on her left is horribly malformed.  (assuming you have posted this picture with the correct side forward-i see no markers on the xray itself indicating LT/RT)  i would keep this young lady very trim and well muscled to hold this joint together.  in this situation, fitness is critical to the dog's longevity.  she will most likely be afflicted with arthritis as she gets older.  once again, keep the weight down and maintain good muscle tone.  get her spayed at 2 or 3 yrs of age as breeding her is out of the question.  sockets such as these are highly inheritable.  wish i could have made better comments, but if you take really good care of this girl she could still live to a ripe old age.

best of luck to you and her.

Petros,

What does your vet say in his opinion ?  I am not a qualified person to give an expert opinion, but from experience of having many animals Xrayed and looking at plates, then evaluating them when the score has come through, these dont look as disastrous asZeigenfarm feels they are.    Mo - Mascani.

The hip on the right in your photo has a very flattened head, not well-seated. They don't look great, for sure, but I have seen dogs with far worse x-rays lead long active lives and dogs with rads that didn't look as bad be in a lot of pain.  Staying fit and not overweight are your best ways to handle. Swimming would be great if you can manage it.   The positioning is REALLY BAD.

kindly get the X-rays redone, the pelvis is rotated and the radiation exposure is not good either.hard to comment on them but the hips seem to be fair.
