-They spend their allowance on dog collars, toys, and tracking articles

-You call them in sick to school to compete in performance events

-They have more pictures of their dog on their myspace than themselves

-Their "trophy wall" is filled with dog show ribbons, rosettes, and plaques

-For their birthday/christmas, you give them leads, tuitions for classes and schutzhund art (which they ask for!)

-They take German in school strctly so they can speak it at shows and help dear old mom import dogs someday

-They have a poetry project in language and it ends up looking like this:

Thats really cute.I know the feeling.I have 2 kids I gace birth to.Both are in the teen years and really have no time for dogs.I think all the years of doggie talk has began to bore them but when I think of it they both have never showed a big interest in the dogs.My youngest is 6 and is adopted he is all about dogs.He is my gift from god .A true dog lover.
At a dog show last week I was chatting with a newbi looking to get into GSDs.He asked what the first thing I would ask when looking at breeders.I was thinking about a reply that would help this man.My son was tugging at my pant leg and I was about to get upset at the non use of his manners when in his little voice he said"Hips Mom,the parents have to have the doctor say the hips are good"

Hey Sita, I know your pain.  My guy loves the Lego and the video games.  But he's never really had a dog before now, so maybe this will help.  I do find he is starting to come up to me and ask me if he can help walk the puppies, and sometimes he takes them into the yard to play fetch with them.  So there might be help yet!  How old is your child?  My son just turned 11.
