My preference is most definately " Males "

I think that they are more responsive, obedient, clear headed, calm, quiet and they assess every situation before reacting.

Maybe it's just that my Bitches have been more trying today because today they have not been any of the above.
Yes they are due to come on heat soon.

I prefer females.  They seem more intuitive to me.

Females, female fights for you and to the end, male fights for himself. Females brings her heart with her every time, while male brings his ego. When comes to a life threating situation, I will always choose to have female at the end of the line rather than male.

I used to prefer females, the best dog I ever owned was a female when I was a kid. Now I prefer males, they are just easier and seem more protective of me than the females I have had. The females are protective but I'm not sure since I am also female, they trust me more to watchout for myself, while they go running off into the woods doing their thing. My males stay much closer to me not getting out of sight, waiting up or coming back for me.

I like males, primarily because since I am not a breeder I have no reason to deal with a female coming into season and her subsequent hormone surges.  I also think the boys have a better sense of humor (kidding).

I like females.  The females I have had seem to be more "intuned" to me and have a stronger bond. (I am also female)  Females also seem to be more serious

The males always seemed like they couldn't care less if I lived or died and males are WAY too "goofy"/silly acting.

Females, definately.  May change my mind after going thru the heat with our current girl.  All my other females were spayed.  Will just have to see how we weather the storm.

Males. I'm not a breeder so I don't want to have to deal with the heat cycles and the goofy hormone swings. Males also have a more intimidating appearance to the unwashed masses so they can be effective "visual deterrents". Females can definitely be more eager to please and bond tight with their owners but males can be more reliable with their performance.

Another tidbit... if you're interested in a companion or club level dog then sex probably doesn't matter. However, if you're interested in high level competition, then get a male. Alas, few females compete with the boys in National and International event.
