Grinding up raw chicken...blender, food processor...? Help the clueless - Page 2

I don't do the grinding thingy, but have seen meat grinder's on www.naturmix.com don't know how much they are but worth looking at if nothing else works for you.

O, just thought I would ad, if you are trying to make the pills small pieces (smashed), this is what I do for horses.  Put the pills in a sandwich type bag, put a towel over and under it on a firm surface and smash with a hammer. I have done Bute that way for horses then mix it with molasses put in a syringe and dose. They still hate it LOL but it works good to smash the pills vs a blender.

 Hand chicken to dog. HE will grind it up better than any electric appliances, and for free!

I'd just cut part of the meat off the leg quarter and grind the pill with that.  I use a heavy-duty Cuisinart food processor and it's a workhorse, but daily bones might even kill that motor.  You could try grinding the pill to a powder with a mortar and pestle and mixing it with a raw egg, if he likes those, or some pre-ground turkey.  Have you checked with your vet to confirm that it is safe to crush these particular pills?  Some can't be crushed because they'll release too much medicine at once.

The one thing that always works on my dog is a pill shoved into the middle of a 1" slice of a hot link (not a plain hot dog--he finds the pill in those).  I think it's because they're so heavily seasoned.  He loves them and in two months of twice-daily doses, he never even suspected that they might be booby trapped with pills.  He finds pills in absolutely everything else I've ever tried.  Even those stupid expensive Greenies pill pockets.

A Meat CLEAVER...

I use a small piece of cheese, cut a small slit in the cheese,insert the pill and toss to the dog,toss one or two without pill,if he tests its normally the first piece.After that, its just catch and swallow,wait for next piece.Have also used sliced chesse made into small ball with pill inside,same process.I'm in Alabama to Talladega,where are you
