Sunsilver

I came across this website today, when doing some pedigree research. It sounds like this lady knows what she's doing, given what her dogs have achieved!

http://www.glendhenmere.com/OPT.html

Anyone familiar with her obedience techiques? Can you sum them up in a few sentences? I've never heard of this techniqe before, and am curious to know about it. She doesn't say much about it on the website. (Probably wants you to buy her books and videos!)

Thanks!

Appears to be "Positive Re-enforcement Techniques"...But the pictures are very old looking but then she's from Kentucky and maybe not what she appears to be...???

"Not what she appears to be?"

What are you hinting at, Q Man?

Check out her other pages. She is mainly into ACD dogs now, and doing really well with them. Also, her kennel has been around for many years, thus the 'old' pictures. She's no 'fly-by-night', that's for sure!

Go here to see the kennel's recent accomplishments:  http://www.glendhenmere.com/brags.html

You've obviously never been to Kentucky Q.

The website doesn't offer much information at all.
But yes Sunsilver, she must be doing something right.

Apparently that takes buying one of the videos.

i'm not familiar with her method but amazon has her gsd handbook and it has the "look inside feature" http://www.amazon.com/German-Shepherd-Handbook-Barrons-Handbooks/dp/0764113321/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1236810481&sr=8-2

also found this link to a pdf of a review of her book

Thanks, Susan! I should have thought of checking Amazon. I did read the review already, though, and it was pretty positive.

BTW, there's at least one or two of her GSD's way back in my females pedigree, dating from the late '70's. Like I said, the kennel's been around quite a long time.

i went ahead and got her book. i am very interested in early training/imprinting/education ... not sure this book is all that different from many of the other books i've been reading, but the review mentioned the info on tracking and retrieving were worth the $11, and imprinting tracking in particular is one area i feel the least confident.
