Koehler is sorta basic, you have to weed through it and make up your own mind about some things .

Since you sound like a person who is very new to trainig dogs and you want to learn basics first of obedience training there is a vedio that Ed Frawley at Leer Burg sells that he put togather. caleed Basic Obedience get that vedio it is the best vedio a novice can own it is so easy that any one even with half a brain can learn how to train an obedience the concepts and steps behind each command.if some one who can learn the basic concepts from this vedio then you have no brain and you should give up dogs period.so get that and if you want to getr into shutzhund then get Bernard's vedio building drive and focus. start with those and make sure you watch the vedio hundread times if that is how many times it takes you to first understand completely what is being taught and then go and work with your dog. Also go to Nate's web site and read what he has there and learn.most important thing is wheather it is abook or vedio make sure you first read it or watch it as many times as it takes you to understand the concepts behind the ideas and methods untill you understand those do not practice on your dog.have a nice one and good luck. hope this helps.
