This old dude taking your deposits and promised to give you pick of the liter. Then later on
came up with something like, " I have another pup is very nice quote and quote,  and would
be interest to you. " " I told him I will wait and pick of the liter." Ever since he had not been
contacting me. But he cash my  check out just to reserve for one of his puppies. He's an
old dude from suburban Atlanta. He's also enhancing or digitize pictures of his pups to make
it seem very, very red and black. Watch out  fo this ripping off dude. Don't ever do business with
him!! He's a full of BS!!

Estahaus has a very good, very long-standing reputation.   Most breeders who have been in it for decades aren't going to keep you posted with updates, they'll let you know when your pup is ready.   I wouldn't be offended one bit if I had a deposit down for a pick of litter and a breeder with the creditials like Mr. Leonard called and asked if I wanted to consider a different pup.  He might have done so because he believed the other pup was showing better potential than the one you put a deposit down for.
I think you jumped the gun far too soon on this.  I wouldn't blaim Lenny if he sent you your deposit back instead of selling you a pup....if you're so critical about this who knows what he might have to put up with further down the line from you?

As so a buyer should beware of breeder, so shall a breeder beware of buyer.

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from Estahaus if they had just what I was looking for.

I have no idea who this person is or what he is talking about. None of what he states has ever taken place. Perhaps he can seek psychiatric help.

I do not know the kennel, but by going to the link, and looking at the puppies and info, I would say they were all
the pick of the litter.

I don't do "Pick of the litter" pups, cause there is no such thing, there is such a thing as wait until your dog
reaches maturity, then see if the temperament, drive and health checks all pan out,
Now that's a pick of the litter

My response to Lenny: I don't make story about Estahaus.com. You know to yourself and will feel guilty about it
down the road. My reaction to this is true and stand by my story. Think about what you did in the past. That's all
I have to say.

Peace & Love.

The good breeders don't just give a dog to anyone who knocks on the door.  A good breeder subtly interviews you and if you are not dog savvy you probably never even know it.  A good breeder gives his dogs to good homes.

I would like to throw out there that for me a show/working home will always take priority over a pet home if I have a suitable puppy, regardless of when a deposit was given. You seem to have a lot of negative things to say with no real details and no proof, or even willingness to use your full name.

Another point is what one person's "pick" is may not be what someone else's, or the breeder's pick! A "pick" puppy for a working home may not be suitable at all for a pet buyer.

I'm trying to give up the PDB for lent :(  but really felt I had to post to this thread.

First I suggest readers click on Brian's name and read his 4 other posts. Three are about problems with apparently different dogs and the fourth is a solicitation to buy a dog. He has signed with three names ( first names only - benny, Brian and Mark) and two different locations in the space of a mere few months.

What do I know about Bill Leonard known as Lenny on this board. Let's see - he's a respected breeder and GSD judge and has been so for many decades. He has been successfully importing dogs into this country for longer than most PDB members have probably have been alive never mind a gsd owner. In decades when it was totally unfashionable to have German dogs and before the SV system was exported to America he competed successfully with these dogs in the American show ring. He breeds beautiful sound dogs.

I have never bought a dog from Bill but would not hestiate to. I have been in GSDs since 1963 and have competed in breed, obedience, schutzhund and herding. In all those years I have never heard of Bill being anything than what I described above - a respected breeder and judge. He has had many dogs that I would have loved to own - some I only know from picture and pedigree but some that I have met in person.

I met Bill once many years ago when he lived in New Jersey. I went to look at two stud dogs ( Whiskey and Hasso)  he had. He ended up very graciously spending the better part of a Saturday with me ( a young soul back then)  talking German Shepherds and German lines and offering me an education that was priceless.  Bill, thank you, it was a wonderful day that I still remember clearly. I appreciated then and now your generousity of spirit in sharing your knowledge and love of the breed.

So much for trying to help a newer Shepherd fan find the dog best for them......

Lenny, sorry ya had to deal with this... but just think of all the people who looked @ your site thanks to his posting the link. Personally I didn't see one dog there I wouldn't love to have in my house.  I can remember when Tom V.Estahaus was all the rage in the Shepherd Review... as well as many other great dogs you've had and shown for 20+ years.

You just can't help everyone... ^5 on a history of great dogs.... (PS he'd probably have had issues with Joe Bihari and Bill Goldbecker too... lol)
