Going through the photos of Caleb and he resembles so muh of Dargo, not only in strength but expression. An excellent portfolio, very photogenic shots. And the 4ec6re2 is pretty good also

Don't waste this precious bloodline and such a stellar example of a type that is so hard to find now. I have no intentions of "wasting" him. I enjoy and am thankful for every day I have with him. It sounds terribly cheesy, but I consider myself very blessed to have him. He is truly a unique, once-in-a-lifetime dog...and I have a lot of dogs. I will breed the dog probably, try to have a small litter, and keep them. That was always my plan. It doesn't always work out that way, but if I could attempt to have a small litter, then I'd be a happy girl. Otherwise, I'll work on cloning, lol.
If you do nothing else, get his OFA ASAP. He will be judged as a 5 year old unless you can have your vet send in the existing xrays. He is too precious to be treated like a mutt or a BYB dog. I may send them in, but if I'm not breeding for the public, I don't really need to hear OFA's opinion on his hips. His films are pretty cut and dried; his hips are fine. Honestly, even if he had bad hips, I'd probably still want a pup out of him for myself. I firmly believe HD is so much more complex than we know; much more comes into play than genetics. When we breed hips to hips and forget about the DOGS, we are setting ourselves up for temperamental disaster, which I think we're seeing the results of lately. JMO.
I may send his xrays to the SV, too. I don't know quite what you mean by treating him like a mutt or a BYB dog...??? Just because I don't necessarily want Caleb puppies out there in the general public doesn't mean I treat him like a mutt; on the contrary; I think he's too good for most people, and I don't want the qualities he has bred out like is happening so often.
I would love to have a puppy from him, he is so beautiful and very much like my dog Shadow who died in 2006 at 13 years old. I can live without the titles but not registration and OFA hips and elbows. What do you mean "without registration"? His reg. number is on his ped. on this site. I may do his hips and elbows again just to see if there have been any changes over the last several years; he's VERY hard on his body, and I worry that he may be damaging his hips and elbows with his stunts. I like to know what's going on w/my dogs BEFORE there's a problem. He's so big I worry about arthritis later in life. I am kind of curious, so I may have them done when I get Qira's done. I'll probably send them both to the SV. But again, that doesn't mean I will breed this dog for the public. If I cared about breeding him to sell puppies, I'd have titled him.

Jenni, I just looked at pics of Caleb, and he is a powerful looking animal. Very nice! I'd love a clone of him too.
BTW, if that is you in the pic, you are a very pretty girl. All the best with him, and if you ever do get some quality pups, don't forget me!
