Are you asking if this is a ddr pedigree

by Johnsk9 on 03 February 2009 - 15:02

Looks like a Karel Sedlacek breeding you have most czech lines with a good amount of west blood.
There is ddr bloodlines way back. I would not call this a ddr dog or ddr pedigree.

I bought 3 pups from Karel Sedlacek a few years ago,  all three came up with HD and he wouldn't do anything about it, so beware!

how were your pups raised? do you let them  jump up on there own .any dog will have bad hips if not raised right! I dont know your case.   fat pups=bad hips   jumping to early= badhips     and on and on ect.

I have two  that came from Sedlacek and both have OFA'd. I aquired both the dogs as adults and did not ask about guarantees but did research both pedigrees and played the odds correctly . As the result  I have two very nice females from his program but I am very picky when choosing a dog. Lots of people do not understand  vertical pedigrees and how important they are or do the research on Czech dogs and what crossed well on what and what dogs to stay away from and lots have problems with hips ,elbows and temperaments. But if they had bad hips and the puppies were guaranteed they should have been replaced

jbaker1980,
With all respect, do a little research on HD.  The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals is still the best source of accurate information on HD.  They have no hidden agenda, and have spent many years researching this topic.  One can exasperate bad hips with the above mentioned activities, but not cause it.  It is fundamentaly genetic.
Thanks

To JBaker, I've bred GSD's for 25+ years, and know full well how to properly raise them. They were two littermates, then an unrelated one later.  They were not allowed to jump at all, nor were they worked and were kept lean, per my vet's recommendations. So I know it wasn't how they were raised, as I've raised numerous pups the exact same way with no HD at all.  When I contact Karel and told him about the pups HD he fell off the face of the earth after saying he wouldn't replace them!
