I know we have all said some pretty idiotic stuff in the past on here but you would think that the month the site was down that it would have changed some folks thinkings on how they conduct themselves on this site. There's no "cure" to this non-sense and trust me I have been the results of wrong doing but it would behoove us unless we want this site to be totally down for good, we should be cognizant that this site is pedigree database and NOT the GSD Better Business Bureau. It's really dismaying to open the site only to see the "NEWEST ADS" all consist of "Beware of this person, beware of that person, this person is a pig, etc". While this site may not be 100% accurate on pedigrees, it has been VERY useful to just about everyone and minimized the amount of independent research time you've spent on the internet, survey books, etc to find your dog info. Appreciate this useful site and understand there are other avenues to handling a fraudulent transaction, dog scam, etc (i.e. BBB, attorney general, local authorities, etc) May if the owner of the site does decide to charge a subscription for use of this site, the broke, idiotic mofos will stop using it as a avenue to slander folks. I think of it this way, what if you were the person being slammed and while there was room for the person to be upset @ you, the situation was just a simple miscommunication that could have been resolved without the slanderous thoughts??? Sorry for the long post but this some folks still haven't got the clue a month after this site was down.

Amen!!! What do you want to bet that nothing changes. So sad.

I am glad someone finally said something... buit like SGBH says... I doubt people will change their nonsense ways. It is a real pitty. Yes we all like to be aware of those who "screw" us over... however there are times and places for that... NOT HERE! Nicely said LuvCzechDawgz Vereinigte

LuvCzechDawgz Advertisement information Title BUYER AWARENESS Text *** BUYER ALERT *** I live in the Ohio area and recently had a situation where a trainer I paid all of a sudden DISAPPEAR. Several phone calls, several emails, a filed complaint with Better Business Bureau and not much done (so far). Now the trainer is pissed and doesn't with to finish training he started but never finish (if you were a deadbeat, wouldn't you do the same thing? Humiliation is something!) My advice to you 1) CHECK CREDENTIALS AND TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS AND ASK FOR THEM (Note: Tom Rose school had a recent incident where trainers were telling lies that they attending his school only to be far from truth). If a trainer find this offensive, perhaps that should raise a red flag for you. 2) CHECK BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU RECORDS - This may help although the trainer I dealt with had many "aliases" and probably no legitimate tax ID/business name to begin. 3) THOROUGHLY REVIEW CONTRACTS AND GET RECEIPTS EVERY SINGLE TIME - I can't stress how important this is and any legitimate trainer shouldn't mind this. He may have to submit this for tax documentation so why would he/she have a problem writing a simple receipt? 4) BE CAUTIONED ON AWAY FROM HOME TRAINING - Note that every trainer out there isn't ethical in business nor practice and there are some out there that train by ULTIMATE COMPULSION methods which they wouldn't dare show or tell to any prospective client. 5) ASK FOR REFERRALS - And call them! If a trainer doesn't have referrals @ his fingertips, that would be a good reason to be alarmed. I would go so far to say check criminal records but perhaps there is a good man (or should I say trainer) out there who may have "skeletons in his/her closet" that has paid their debt to society and may be of integrity now. On another note, would you rather find out afterwards this dog trainer that took your money or perhaps beat your dog had a long history of this??? Use judgement on this and perhaps get a few 'red flags" before ditching a trainer with a traffic violation who may be a trainer that sends your dogs to the nationals. I put this out there following my incident as well as to give buyers some tools to go by when searching for trainers in the working dog arena that is already full of bogus and scandalous people. To date, I can't think of anyone who says or does anything about it (i.e. SV, AKC) and makes the public aware at least. Ed Frawley (Leerburg) does his share on publicizing the "bad folks". I commend him for that

Is that the type ads you want people to stop putting up here?I just want to make sure I understand which of your post to listen too. This board is much more then just a pedigree database,if all else bothers you the don't read it,I for one WANT TO KNOW what is going on and who is doing what.It is real simple to just skip over a thread you don't care to read then to clog up the board with nonesnse as to who should put what up where.

hello charlie -- that was very good / excellent advice that you gave about credentails etc, --- you are correct about contracts too -- i would just add the contracts and the credentials should be VALID or from a VALID reliable Verifiable source and again i would like to emphasize to readers you are so correct --- p[eople should ASK TO SEE THEM !!! don't be shy -- also ask to see a DEMO of a dog trained buy the trainer -- the dog will tell you a lot too !!.. when i had my training classes i posted them for evereyone to see -- also when i did In Kennel Training i took video of the dogs being trained to show that i was in fact the one who trained and that the dogs were not abused - in addition in my contracts the owners agreed to take at least three seperate lessons which i videod to demonstrate that they could handle / had understood / could follow through with the training !! Vetenarains and training organizations such as those that encourage positive reinforcement are good sources too .again good advice for the weary charlie --

Alpha, Actually that was a copy of a post from luvCzech dogs. How are you doing?Been a long time.

by LuvCzechDawgz on 30 March 2005 - 01:03

Charlie As the my post stated "we have all made idiotic comments on here". Surely that includes you too. But rather than drag things on and take a "stoop down" Also the info I posted was general advice without trying to incriminate anyone or point blame @ anyone. Just happens that person "lashed out". At any rate, I'm ending that explaination because it would have probably been a good idea to simply not try to explain this and not get the soap opera drama folks all stirred up Enjoy your evening!

by Charlie Ivory on 30 March 2005 - 01:03

LCDawgz, Don't get me wrong, yours was good advice,I just think it is important to know what is going on,all to often people get screwed and THEN look to see what they did wrong rather then look before the purchase. What better place to check then a place like this?Thousands od people per day from god only knows how many different countries. If you have had a good dealing with somebody then by all means say so,if on the other hand you get the screws and the other party is not willing to work things out then you should not stick your head in the sand and just do nothing.Understand what I'm trying to say?

by LuvCzechDawgz on 30 March 2005 - 03:03

Yeah I agree. I agree there's no "cure" because you're always going to have unethical people out there as well as people who inadvertently put stuff on here about a breeder only to find out that it may be a training issue on their part or a diet issue that may have cause a skin or coat ailiment. The list goes on and on. It's just unfortunate you see so much of this but I guess with the GSD being as popular as it is, one such expect things like this. Maybe in the future some "organization" or "body of people" will form some type of way of mediating things like this where they can hear both sides of the story and take actions against those persons. The "dog breeding" business is increasing everyday and the more it does, the more incident like we mention will happen. I must reiterate that if buyers followed some type of guideline or did some research prior to this, maybe it would minimize these mishaps. Knowledge is power I tell ya....
