Suggestions on Working lines - Page 1

Do you want to purchase locally or are you open to shipping? If locally, how far are you willing to drive, and what state do you live in?

If you want  a pup for schutzhund, I would watch videos, go to trials, watch dogs at your local club to get an idea of the "type" of dog you like, and then look into those dogs' bloodlines. Asking what bloodline to recommend is like asking was brand of cereal to pick out at the grocery store.  I would of course look for breeders who only used titled and breed surveyed dogs in their breeding program. United schutzhund Clubs of America has a great list to start with, although research carefully:

Ideally the breeder should be involved in the sport and work their dogs themselves in order to gain a clear picture of each dog's strengths and weaknesses, and keeping back thier own pups for working/competing and titling. A breeder who looks away from their own breeding program for their next "prospect", to me, is a red flag.

Get references from the breeders, and thoroughly check them out. IMO, the integrity of the breeder is more important than a particular bloodline or any guarantee.

I am already apart of a club with my male. I am also talking to a few members of the club about their pups and where they got theirs. They also told me to keep a clear mind and look at a few people to get the pup from.


I'm willing to drive anywhere, actually! I want to form a good bond with the breeder and let them know where the pup would be going.
