The article says my dad has been raising and training shepherds for over 30 years...just a note on that, he only bred 2 litters of pups over 30 years ago, hasn't bred since then and has never had more than 2 dogs at a time. And Klaire was a DDR/Czech girl, import from the Czech.
And I wish my dad hadn't said anything about how he didn't care for American lines...I hope that no one's feelings were hurt amoung those who donated for the pup He really has turned out to be a nice guy and does great with other dogs, even my male Urman thinks he's alright.

This is a wonderful story on so many counts, best of all of course, for the love and fondness of neighbors for each other, but maybe, too, in the opening of minds to a good dog no matter what the line.

Its a GSD - adaptable to any situation.
I'm glad an American GSD will (with training) eventually become companion for your father, may they both live long.

Thank you everyone for the support :) I'll tell my dad. Benjamin is a very sweet boy, he was at the vet's last week a got a clean bill of health :) He loves his dog crate and when 8pm rolls around he goes to his crate in the kitchen and puts himself to bed, doesn't fuss at all during the night.
Dad says he still wants a Czech dog, but he'll have to wait until Benjamin gets older and has some solid training on him.
