Hi everyone !!  When registering a German Shepherd Dog in the PedigreeDatabase,  how does one enter the colour(s) of the individual dog ?  i'm wondering if there are certain ways to type a GSD's colours or if there are codes or initials.

I have been typing in for example, Black/Red, Black/Tan, Black, Bi-Color, Red Sable, etc.

Please teach me how to enter in the correct information when Registering a German Shepherd Dog in this database.  I want to learn, and i so very much wish to enter information correctly.

Thank you so much.

No codes  just use the name on your pink papers or the color abreviated on your akc registrations..

hi yellowrose of Texas.  Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it.

What i see on Pink papers are colour codes like sbA, sgrgA, sbM, sgA, etc.  What I see on AKC Registration Certificates are actual colours, Black & Red, Black & Tan, etc., but on AKC German Shepherd Dog Registration Applications are colour codes such as 007 (Black), 014 (Black & Red), 018 (Black & Tan), 164 (Sable).

I don't see colours abbreviated on AKC Registration papers.  I would like to know how people are entering in colour information here in the pedigreedatabase, if they are typing in the actual colour(s) or entering codes whether the dog is AKC Registered or SZ Registered, or if it even matters how i type in the colour information.  Like i said in my original post, i have been spelling out the colour names and adding a "/ " inbetween, for example, Black/Red.

Karon,

If I were you I wouldn't get too jacked up over it.  If you post a photo of your dog then it will be obvious what color your dog is.  LOL.  Kudos for trying to be "correct" but it's just not that critical to obsess over if you have a good photo of the dog.

Karon,

I checked out the pedigrees you just added today.  Interesting to see some of the dogs from Pacific northwest breeders from the "old, old days," when I believe Enno v. Beilstein was actually living in BC (Frank Mensing?).  It was before "my time,"  but a lot of the folks in the schutzhund community then with actual breeding programs (Carol Rasché, Karen Bostwick -Kadami, and Elvira__  -Burgberg) were actively breeding working line dogs and Enno seemed to be a cornerstone.   I recognize the names of a few others, too, e.g. Rowdy.  Heard a lot about that boy.    If you don't have it and would like to contact the breeders behind your dogs, except for Carol,  I can give you their phone #s.

hi SchHBabe,

thank you for your reply. :))  When registering a German Shepherd Dog in this PedigreeDatabase, there is a place to enter the colour,  i am only wanting to know how most German Shepherd Dog Breeders enter this information.  Of course when i upload photographs of my dogs and my pups, and i must say this is an ongoing project as i only just discovered this site in December 2008,  one can see the colour(s) of the dog,  all i want to know is how most German Shepherd Dog Breeders are entering "colour" in the original "registration" in pedigreedatabase when adding a dog to this database.

Thank you so much for your reply, i truly appreciate it.  And i'm thinking perhaps you are right, yet there is an entry for colour(s) so i'm asking how to enter this information.  Do i type out the colour(s) and spell it out, or do i enter abbreviations or codes ?

Hi Mystere,

Thank you so much for writing to me, although you haven't answered my question.

Thank you also for checking out the pups i  added to the PedigreeDatabase today.  You seemed to have "pulled" a name quite randomly.

Please also note Watz vom Kopenkamp, Reyko von Adlerpass, Grimm vom Lehmbachtal, Caralon's Hein von der Lockenheim, Gauss vom Stauderpark, Rika vom Cellerland, Dingo vom Haus Gero,  Bob vom Haus an der Schiene, Yack vom Arolser Holz, Iso vom Bergmannshof, Vopo vom Kirschental, Fero vom Zeuterner Himmelreich, Jonn vom Fichtenschlag,  Arras vom Beyenburger Stausee, etc ...  what i mean is this,  why would you randomly highlight a name of a dog on one of my pedigrees, when all i am asking for is instruction ??

what i would like to know is this .... when registering a German Shepherd Dog in the PedigreeDatabase, how does one enter the colour .....   by actually typing in the colours, there are only so many spaces for this entry,  or by abbreviation, code, initials, ??

Karon, I have no clue how to put the colors in. I am not techno-literate. Sorry that I did not state that to begin with. I didn't pull any dog's name "at random." As I stated, I recognized the names of some of the dogs that came out of the breeding programs of some of the breeders in the region from "yesteryear." That is not random; it's pretty specific. I thought you might have been interested in contacting some of those individuals who are still around, as the dogs are among those behind your own breeding. I don't know any of the individuals who bred the other dogs you mentioned. As I said, I simply thought you *might* have some interest. My apologies for that, too. I certainly will not make that mistake again.

Karon:   All you do is type the color in the square.  If you have a german color put it in there..your choice..

If not just put what ever color your registration papers have on them in english....blk/red...blk/tan    etc..
