Dumbbell work - Page 1

I have watched various ways handlers pick up the dumbbells from the stand.  Some walk up and stop with their dog sitting then reach out and pick it up.  Some walk by and pick up the dumbbell in passing.  Which is your prefered method and why?   I do hope to get some feedback with explanations.

I like to loop around it and pick up from walking. I copy my TD because I think it looks more fluid and it is all about showmanship. Also if you stop your dog has to sit more and if you look sloppy the judge may find away to take some points away.
