Does anyone know where I can buy the supplement for EPI?  I donate to our local shelter and I was out there tonight and saw a GSD, looked to be a showline dog, male about 5  years old  He has good temperament and would love to see him adopted.  He was extremely thin and when I asked about him, the vet said he had EPI.  I wanted to donate some enzymes for him but can't really seem to find what I need on the net.  Thought maybe some of you would know a good place to purchase it.  Thanks

It requires a prescription from a vet!

No it doesn't require an RX!  Join this group:  http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/k9-EPIGLOBAL/

After you join this group, you can be directed to an enzyme group where you can order enzymes for a "drastically" cheaper price!!  A gal volunteers to order the enzymes in bulk and devides them into kilos and we can order them from her.  She is a "godsend"!!!    Bless you for doing this!

You can PM me if you have anymore questions!

Janet is right and it is a godsend!!  I know of 2 dogs with EPI near me and their owners were struggling under the price, and they found this site and are thrilled.  It is easily 1/3 the price.

Thanks so much, I just sent in my membership to join.  this dog was so sweet and loving and he looked so bad.  They are trying to give him stuff to help but our shelter is just in dire need of so much.  I keep donating food, toys, blankets and what ever I can give to them but this dog really caught my heart when he looked at me.  They call him Clank because he plays with his water bowl.  i want this dog to have a fighting chance and my mom and I decided that this Christmas we would cut back on gifts to help this dog in need.  If I could I would take him home but have no room for any extra dogs.  I wish I could at least foster him but I can't.  But what I can do is see that he gets the proper enzyme he needs to be adopted by a special family that is willing to keep up his regime....

You are awesome to help this poor guy.  He also needs to eat a diet very low in fat, as fat is very hard on the pancreas.  I think Royal Canin (yuck) makes one just for EPI but it costs about $80 per bag.  The 2 EPI dogs I know eat Solid Gold WolfKing (has a 9% fat content) and are doing very well.  In fact, one was a rescue that only weighed in at 49 pounds (maybe 4 months ago) and now is 75 pounds of happy healthy dog.  Thank you for helping him.

Thank everyone for all your advice and help.  I will also buy him his dog food needed. I joined the EPI list and the moderator Lisa emailed me and is helping me out.  She is going to donate some of her own enzyme for Clank.   They want to ship it to him right away.  We are having an ice storm here in INdiana today or else I would go out and visit him today.  We are all stuck at home.  I want to get him on the proper diet, enzyme and groom him up.  I will go out as soon as I can and get him a bed to lay on as well.  He is just laying on concrete right now.  Our shelter is in such bad shape.  They are mostly volunteers there and just not enough help.  My mom and I do what we can but our community just doesn't care and it angers me.  I'll keep everyone posted on Clank

Have a Merry Christmas everyone and thanks again for all advice.  I appreciate it all

You can go to www.thomasvetdrug.com . They have the generic supplement for EPI called Biocase-V. It costs $89.95 for the 12 oz powder. Shipping in the USA is free.  It does not require a prescription.

My 5 yr old male has been on it for 4 years and is doing just fine with it.

Good luck!
