What are the best combanations for breeding, Show stock!! - Page 1

Hi All, i was just wondering what people reckon are the best producing combernations.

What lines have worked for you, and has produce top winning dogs.

Do people when choosing a stud look at the dog him self first, then his pedigree or the other way round??

Bloodlines are more important, since a stud or bitch almost never produces better than itself. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule but they came from somewhere and that somewhere is nearly always the bloodline of one or both parents. Look at the pedigree, then look at the dog.

And consider what/who is in your pedigree. A pedigree with all V-rated GSDs isn't going to produce statistically near as good as a pedigree with lots of VA-rated dogs. Look at the pedigrees of top winning dogs; and always remember, too-the 'top' dogs aren't always the top producers. Sometimes it will be a full brother/sister who isn't so 'top' who turns out to be the better producer. A dog who looks excellent may NOT produce his caliber of progeny-its one thing to be a show winner, and another entire different thing to be a show winner AND good producer. When considering studs/bitches, look at the success of their progeny/offspring. Are they promising, or average? Use ALL these things together to help select a winning bloodline combination.
