I wonder if bitches are hard-wired to respond to a puppy's cries? When the puppy began to yelp shrilly, my maiden 17 mo. old bitch got really upset, and kept staring at the computer, and tilting her head from side to side!
My male totally ignored the sound...

So far 2 pups , 1st still born male then a gap of 50 mins and another live pup, now a gap of 2 hours, bitch is panting but not straining, is she resting or does it seem a bit long.

ok.. now I'm a nervous wreck!!
I went away from my computer for awhile... and came back an no crying puppy...momma dog is restless, in and out of her box, panting, etc. and the silence is deafening.... what's the update? where did her pups go?

What's going on? I've never seen a litter be whelped before but it looks and sounds like something is going wrong?
