The Minimum working qualifications for a Sieger Show outside of Germany were decided in 2005 at the WUSV meeting with a RESOLUTION put by the SV and supported by a huge majority, 1 country abstained. That resolution still stands and has been adopted by Holland this year 2008 (the FIRST time the Dutch are awarding VA titles.) The minimum working qualifications required for VA are SchH1 or IPO1.

So why have the GB Seiger committee uped the stakes in this the first year of the courage test at the GB Seiger, lets face it not all exhibitors train their dogs for Schutzhund ,yes those of us who have working qualifications on our dogs could simply enter the adult class and ignore the working class, however surely we want maximium entry in the working class if we are to develop in line with the rest of Europe

Those with working qualifications of SchH1 or higher, or IPO1 or higher, and a Breed Survey (which is compulsory for dogs over 2 years of age, in order to enter) QUALIFY FOR THE WORKING DOGS CLASS, therefore must enter the working dog class. - READ THE THIRD POINT UNDER ADULT OPEN CLASS REQUIREMENTS  - IN THE SCHEDULE

The minimum requirement outside of Germany is Schh1 in Germany Schh2 for the first year a dog goes VA but must have schh3 if going VA in Germany for a 2nd time. Obviously a country can elect for a higher requirement if they want to write it into their rules but for the first year of introducing the VA and courage test at a Sieger show it would have made sense to keep in line with other countries, for the sake of encouraging people to enter if nothing else, obviously everyone wants to get the highest place and grade they can without putting more obstacles in their way. Just look at this years Irish Sieger show catalogue and check out the amount of schh1 females entered, all encouraged to do so because they were eligible for VA provided they fulfilled all the other criteria.

To rectify the matter regarding grading in the working class, they need to make the maximum grade for dogs without Koerung (ie dogs with only a British breed survey ) a V grade, to bring it in line with the non working class (maximum grade V) it is up to the judge on the day what grade he awards each and every dog but to make the maximum grade SG in the working class is ridiculous. It would seem that dogs without koerung but with a schh title are being unfairly penalised.

I would suggest one change to Carols suggestion above.
Any British Bred Dogs with a SchH1/VPG1/IPO1 or higher grades in these qualifications,  which were all GAINED in Britain, and have a British Breed Survey, but NO Korumg, should be eligible for the grade of VA.

We should be encouraging British Bred Dogs that gain their qualifications here in Britain, this is the BRITISH SIEGER.
