Clearly it would have been useful if the British Sieger Working Group had read page 7 of the German Sieger Catalogue 2007 when compiling the British Sieger Schedule.

BRITISH SIEGER 2008 SCHEDULE  -  POINTS TO NOTE

Page 3: clause 5 (All dogs over 24 months must have been breed surveyed (see Working Class requirements)
Page 3: clause 6 (only the Judge can check teeth & testicles)

Page 4: Working Class requirements - "Dogs without SV Korung can only achieve the maximum grade of SG (Very Good)" (even though they MUST have a UK breed survey)
"To gain a V (Excellent grade dogs must have a minimum of SchH1 / IPO1" (clearly they also must have a Korung)
(read page 7 German Sieger catalogue 2007 - last paragraph)
Therefore a dog with a SchH1 / IPO1 & a UK breed survey is qualified to enter the Working Dog Class.
However when the dog passes the courage test, the dog can only be awarded SG (because the dog has NO Korung)

Adult Class Requirements - Dogs  2 years & over  WITHOUT a SchH / IPO1 but WITH a UK Breed Survey can enter indeed the 3rd point makes it clear that only dogs 2 and over that DO NOT MEET the criteria of the Working Class can enter. There is understandably NO courage test for dogs entered in the Adult classes. HOWEVER, DOGS IN THIS CLASS CAN BE AWARDED GRADE "V" EXCELLENT.

This requires immediate attention

FUNDAMENTAL
WHEN A DOG MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS OF ENTRY FOR A CLASS -
THE DOG SHOULD BE JUDGED IN THE SAME MANNER AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS IN THE SAME CLASS. IN THE WORKING DOG CLASSES THEREFORE ALL THE DOGS THAT QUALIFY FOR ENTRY AND PASS THE COURAGE TEST SHOULD BE JUDGED EQUITABLY, BREEDING, PROGENY, CONFORMATION, MOVEMENT AND GUN SHOT TEST, MAY BE THE ONLY ASPECTS WHICH SHOULD INFUENCE THE JUDGES PLACINGS AND GRADINGS.

Having read the schedule I was surprised to see that the requirement for consideraton for a VA grading was Sch h 2, not because this is not the German ruling, but because I expected this to be intoduced next year, not 6 weeks before the show ! Did the committee consider how many of our top females have this qualification? And that to get this legitimately in such a short time is almost impossible.  Why didn't they follow the Irish and bring in more stringent requirements gradually thus encouraging more people to support them. No this is not sour grapes, I have a Sch h3 male and will compete with him, but do I need to bring my female for another potential V grade when she has so many already, I'm not sure I do. Do other people feel the same way or is it just me, comments please !!!!! ,

It is very obvious that THREE organisations - The WUSV Working Group (GSDL & BAGSD) & The GSD Breed Council - are having great difficulty working together, and making AGREED decisions - the schedule clearly indicates the "TOO MANY COOKS SYNDROME" - It is clearly time for the WUSV Working Group to be solely responsible for the British Sieger Event - The BC are not needed and they only add to the problems. It is difficult enough for TWO organisations to work together on this, a THIRD simply produces more "cock-ups"

It may be useful to read this web page: http://www.videxgsd.com/wusv_resolution_2005.htm

Any questions arising should be put directly to the SV, for answers

i agree with you sue as the whole point in people entering the working classes is because they want to try and get a VA grade its not sour grapes with me either as my female prob wont be ready as shes still recovering from an operation and i carnt work on her as much i would have liked.maybe its something that should have been made public way before now im sure the commity members would have know before hand then it could have gave others the chance to get sch h2 there selfs aswell.just a thorght.

WUSV RESOLUTION 2005

The explanation of the exact requirements is as follows.

This protection work must be according to the guidelines of the "Korschutzdienst"
(the same test as that of the Breed Survey) as practiced in Germany.

The show rating "V-Auslese" (VA) can only be granted if this protection work has been passed successfully.

The judging of the protection work has to be done by an SV judge or a recognised SV foreign judge.

Dogs entered for these tests must have a minimum of SchH1 or a comparable IPO.1 degree.

There will be no immediate need for a change to the requirements necessary for the awarding of "V" Excellent grades.

(DP Note: There is NO mention of a Körung requirement.)

WUSV RESOLUTION 2005

This resolution was promoted as a recommendation up until the end of 2007 and as an established rule from the year 2008 onwards.

It will be obligatory to prove the "a" stamp for "V-A" from the year 2008 onwards.
Until that time it will be recommended.

Also recommended are ratings from "Normal" to "noch zuglassen" for the elbows (ED).

Also included in these requirements shall be mandatory DNA testing.

The above proposed resolution of the SV Management Board was passed with almost unanimous approval,
