Hi! I have a 15 month old working line female that is currently on heat for the first time. She is well trained and is middle sized. I have read a few times, that the cyclus of a female may affect the HD/ED results. My 2 questions are:

  1. why can her cyclus affect the results, and
  2. is there a recommended time to wait after her heat has finished?

None of my other females (showlines) have ever been so old by their first heat, so I was a bit uncomfortable about having her X-rays done until she was mature enough.

I'll be very happy for your suggestions. Thanx! P.S. This is Kimmi, the cause of my worries. Isn't she sweet?

Well if you just want to get a look before putting her to work wait a month after her heat and get her xrayed. If want to OFA her and get a OFA number wait until she is 24 months.

Kimmi, is absolutely gorgeous.......   You should wait 2.5 months after heat cycle to get her hips/elbows done.   When they are close to coming in/going out of "season" the x-rays can look very "lax" that's why timing is key with the girls!
