Does anyone have this line breeding GSD? My girl died in 2001 at the age of 14yrs (Arisa vom rendezvous), her linebreeding was 4-4 VA5 Lasso di val sole. This male was marvelous and have great progeny like VA Xaver von Arminius, Quando von Arminius his grandson.

Many, if not most of the German show-line dogs of the last three (3) generations are linebred (in a way) from the Lasso, but he now exists in generations seven (7) eight (8) and nine (9) for most of these dogs. So technically, that is too far away for a linebreed that is generally accepted as happening in generations four (4) and (5).

As far as I am concerned, the Lasso produced some of the best dogs and bitches. He is not generally referred to as a pillar of the breed, but his influence is practically eveywhere. Everyone loved the Lasso, as he was 100% to the conformation standard and had an intense fight drive.

If one can say one (1) thing to his detriment, it is that the Lasso tended to produce short front legs in his progeny. Of course this required careful selection of breeding bitches as it does for many males so as not to replicate or magnify their faults. All things inclusive, he is no doubt my favourite dog of all time.

Best Regards,

Bob-O

Bob-O is correct , that he appears everywhere and may as well be called one of the pillars...My Cadette Busecker Schloss/Wiethurchen has Lasso bred toWilma von der Kisselschlucht on both top and bottom of WIethurchen, and Dieter has Lasso bred to V! Lidd v Heiligenrech from Fanto v Hirschel and on bottom Lasso bred to Wilma v d  Kisselschlucht producing my Steffen Haus progheny.

My Asta has Lasso bred to Wilma on one side and Lasso back on bottom side twice.  Rex has Lasso on top and bottom of his pedigree...

Grief zum Lahntal is in all of the dogs as many times as Lasso is except on the top side where the working lines are that are bred to the wg showline...Also just looked at Bear Jerome's pedigree and Lasso is  Bred to  Dolli v SIebenlauf  on the Kanto v Montforthalle side .

Health , strength, high bite drive and the Busecker schloss provided the same with the beauty of the big bone and thick neck. and power galore...my old lines cannot compare to some.

Yes, Lasso was one beautiful dog and as hard as nails with totally correct and normal GSD working temperament.  If his owners would have wanted it, he could have been trained to be a top profung winner. I agree with everything Bon-0 said, the dog was the ideal GSD in everyway, looks and temperament.  I have come to believe that the combination of Lasso and Mark Haus Beck is a very potent combination for black and red with near perfect proportions and angles and very hard, correct temperament.  Looks for a top producing stud dog with this combo at the 4-4 or 4-5 level to use or if you buy a nother dog try to acqire one with this click at the 4-5 level for mark and slso with 5-5 or 5-6 level for Lasso.

My current girl, has "LASSO" top and bottom in her ped. My girl's dam, is 5-3 on "LASSO" and has " Mark Haus Beck" on her topside, in her 2nd.

Lasso was truly one of the greatest Geman Shepherd Dogs of the history of our beloved breed.  Lasso incredibly produced both Bundesigers and Siegers.  We were blessed to own one of his sons: V Jalk vom Kammeltal SchH 3, IPO 3, FH, Kkl 1 a normal.  Jalk was re-xrayed in the US with the results: OFA hips good, elbows normal. Jalk was the finest German Shepherd Dog we have ever had the privildege to own.  Jalk was structurally breathtaking with gorgeous movement.  Jalk was sound loving.  He was so careful with a dying very fragile child. Jalk had a profound impact on this child;s life.  Jalk was a calm housedog.  But on the SchH field he was a houseafire.  His obedience was spirited.  He tracking was no less than awesome. as evidenced by his scores.  Jalk was intensive in his drive with a hardness and courgage that you rarely see.  Jalk remains the hardest sound dog we have ever known.  He was true to his Daddy. Jalk was a magnificent producer of sound temperament along with tremendous drive in a gorgous body! We have 2 of Jalk;s great, great, grandchildren: Axel of Ironwood and Mercy of Ironwood.  You can learn more about them on our website:www.schutzhundk9,com   Lasso was known as the producer of producers.

I agree with all that's been said about the great Lasso di val sole!  He is one of the great dogs that my foundation male is lined on: 7,7,5,7,6,7,7/5 (actual line breeding 5/5)  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/121549.html

Ebon carries on this great working drive with the old solid conformation without the modern extreem. He is a GREAT working dog and has produced it as well as good conformation with 100+ progeny.  He turns 9 years old tomorrow and I already sorrow at the thought of loosing him someday.  I have kept a few good progeny to carry on AND I just had MY first litter of his grandchildren! Can't wait to see them grow! What a GREAT dog! Happy birthday Ebon!!

Isn't it amazing what producing power Lasso had, not to mention that he himself was a mental and physical powerhouse. He was easy going around people, but if challenged in any way his dominance and attempt to control the environment instantly appeared.  Joe and Victoria, it sounds like you had the perfect GSD, what a legacy of Lasso. Sounds like the many stories about Lasso sons are true from what you experienced.  To this day his heritage lives on for those that know how to get at it through proper mate selection and line breeding.  Lasso and many of his progeny have been absolutely awesome in the protection part of Sch as well as all aspects of Sch, while being the ideal 24/7 house dogs and family pets.  Mark can add the class and red color without hurting temperament and robustness if bred in properly.  I think the Lasso x Mark cross when done properly at the 4-5 or 5-5 level is one awesome combination genetically.

To drag this slightly off-topic, Louise, that's an awesome looking male you have there in Geronimo!
