roughly it cost between 60 dollars to 100 dollars per a shot.

I am guessing your talking about doing fresh semen AI?
Depends on the Vet some one I know charges $150 but my repo vet charges $175. But progestrone testing costs add up to much more then the AI

Wow, that would first depend on the male chosen. If one is using a high-performance sport champion or conformation champion, the fee for the semen would be essentially the same as if it was a natural breeding. If one must use frozen semen, then the additional procession costs are added.
Provided it is your stud and your bitch, a simple veterinarian-assisted AI may cost you about $200.00. If you choose the surgical AI option you will pay about $500.00-$600.00, but it is much more of a sure thing. So, for most possible scenarios, you should expect to pay from $200.00 up to $2,000.00; depending on the options you had and the choices you made.

Jason, there is typically no need for surgical AI. But as I said, the surgical AI is more of a sure thing. As the semen is injected via hypodermic syringe directly into each horn of the bitch's uterus, it as sure as it can get.
I think the justification for it would depend on the rarity of the dog's semen, such as the semen that would come from a deceased champion and the bitch owner decides to take every step to ensure a successful whelp as it may be an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. There is certainly no reason to do it if the stud is readily available for a repeat cover or two.

When using Frozen semen you NEED to do surgical. A good repo vet would not do a vaginal insimination with frozen semen.
When using chilled semen you have a choice to do surgical or vaginal. Surgical does have a better succes rate but it is only a little better. Not a sure thing by any means. I do choose to go the surgical route with chilled semen
With fresh semen there is no need to do surgical. You do not even need a vet to do AI with fresh semen if you know what you are doing.
