What would you like to change in BSZS? - Page 1

Since I have some spare time on my hands today I thought about asking ya'll a question about BSZS and BSP.

If you were given the power of delegation to change the way BSZS do things for the better, what would you change and why?

1.  Judging to the standard and not fashion.

      a. size

      b. black and red over sable and black

2.    Correct classification of TSB,  currently does not mean much.

These two things alone will greatly close the divide between work and show.

My following suggestions are mainly targeted at Male exhibits, but does not exclude Female exhibits. The Sieger is a Breed show, and as such the top winning males have considerable influence on the future of our breed, therefore they should and must be rigorously scrutinised, and Judging must be honest and transparent, with as many obvious temptations removed.
THREE PRIORITY SUGGESTIONS
1) The accurate measuring height to withers of every exhibit at a Sieger show and the publication of all measurments. 2) An end to any judge being allowed to judge any dogs bred by them, or any dog that has resided with them in their Kennels during the previous year.
3) An end to any dogs bred by any of the Judges at a Sieger Show being allowed to enter that specific Sieger Show in any class whatsoever.
An urgent and detailed feasability study, with published progress reports, into the following:
1) A system of taking hair samples from say the first 50 dogs in each class and others randomly, and having them scientifically tested for any colouring.
2) A drug testing system - for performance enhancing drugs and steroids.
a) Now ask yourselves why wouldn't the SV want to accept these suggestions?
AND
b) Now ask yourselves why wouldn't the SV Judges & Kormeisters want to accept these suggestions?

I have not been to one.  I have purchased the videos of the shows, both ring and protection.  Of the things I have stated which ones do you have opposition to, if any?  Black and tan/red is for fashion and not a determination of structure. Yet, Sables and blacks do not make the cut.  Do top VA dogs not produce sable?  Do their sable progeny not have correct structure?  Or are they frowned upon because of being all things SABLE.

This topic has been discussed ad nausium.  I threw my two cents in.  Flame on!

go ahead and buy the tapes from last year and watch the working males. It might surprise you.

Have you seen the tapes from 2006? If so, may I direct your attention to the SG-53 Young Dog female? The reason there are not enough sables shown is simple: There are not enough around, but if there are good ones, they do have a chance. As to blacks: There is no black recessive gene in the showlines (unless by some genetic fluke) and it is hard to breed into, contrary to the sable gene. Therefore, there are not enough blacks. But times may change in that respect too. Check out V-Alex von den schwarzen Seeperlen.

All dogs would have to be OWNER trained and handled!

Chris, Alex looks good for a workingline! I wish the obedience part of him was better, judging by what I see on the video at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71gCx3oBMHk he needs to have a lot of training on the outs.

I am aware of that Brittany, but his owner had a stroke and has difficulties in control. Alex is going to be shown again this year in Aachen, so I will make it a point to watch him.

David, I absolutely agree with all of your suggestions-especially suggestion Nr. 3. I have never understood why certain kennel/dog owners are allowed to occupy the judge's ranks (during certain shows) and the governing ranks of the S.V., but I digress. They are certainly qualified-no doubts there.

I certainly will not accuse any current S.V. official of poor conduct as I have neither read about nor witnessed any suspicious behaviours for a long time. But we all hear the talk during and after the show as the S.V.'s method of governance sometimes creates an aura of suspicion-even if it is absolutely unfounded.
