I have few queries 1) Is there a Working Line GSD Kennel in India 2) Where can I get oriented in owning a working line GSD pup. That is what are the repercussions in owning a pure working line active GSD dog versus owning just a pet for home. How will it affect my lifestyle , How should I handle it. What all preparations do I need to make . How will my lifestyle alter 3) Where can I find some good help or professional consultation in India on this Working line? thanks very much Vikram

I don't think there is a GSD working line kennel in india. you might do better by importing from Germany. A good place to start your education will be leerburg.com . Buy the videos, read the articles etc. I doubt if you can get qualified help in this matter in india. I would suggest joining or starting a GSDCI chapter, and bringing in a shutzhund expert from abroad for clinics and seminars.

Hi Vikram, I have been in touch with Ajay who is really one of the best and is our Vijay Singh's brother. I have bought a no. of tapes/cds from the US and am training my German Shepherds. Its great fun to say the least. I am in Hyderabad and my mobile no. is 98494-66344.My name is Ajit Mathew. Do get in touch and in case you are nearby we could exchange notes. There are GSD trainers in Germany.I can put you in touch. Going there is not too expensive and the cost of basic training is not very much too. There are a few of us who are genuinly interested in getting this done. I do not know the KCI or the GSDCI view on this but for me its my personal trip and I am fine as far as it is this way.My advise to you will also be the same- do it for yourself and the pleasure you gain- we are all too insignificant to convince a country like India and the clubs that be. Let me assure you its great fun but with our present stock in India there are limitations as you will realise when you move into the bite drive from the defence drive. You will of course be shocked as to how many of our great dogs in India will fail the gunshot test let alone be" working". Infact one of the main reasons why some of them have come in is bcos they were cheap bcos they would never bite let alone the"working". Consequently I am sure that unless we improve on this area we shall have a GSD kingdom full of poor temperament dogs who only look nice but are whimps. This trait is hereditary. Listen I have no intentions of starting a major controversy or anything on those lines. These are just a statement of some facts. So I will not reply to any further mails on this database. My email address is mathewajit@hotmail.com Good dogs come in but few get really mass used. Fedor was a great dog and it is sad he had to be sold for there was no place in India for him.
