Blitzen- are YOU in PA??? You do malamutes right???Lots of BYB advertising German line pups in newspapers - those do go for more than the 'no papers, both parents wise and wonderful' BYB that is pretty common. And do you think that Kevins owner will really NOT sell to a cash customer?? Canadian limited/non breeding registrations are not registerable in AKC and vice versa.

by Blitzen on 03 November 2004 - 18:11

HI Kougar, Yes, south central PA and yes, I show Malamutes. Don't breed much anymore, my last litter was 7 years ago. They are a specialized breed and it's hard to find proper homes for them, no one believe they need a fence and if allowed to raom around, they will kill livestock and other dogs. Also, I got tired of getting dogs back for dumb reasons, so when I want another Mal I buy one LOL. I guess I did think that Kevin's owner wouldn't sell a dog to someone of questionable ethics. In the Malamute world we do a lot of interfacing when we hear of people looking for dogs who may not have the best interests of the breed in mind and most I know will refuse to sell them a dog.

hmmm - thought maybe we knew each other LOL LOL You seem to be very into the GSD for a breeder of another breed! PA is a very small GSD community with as many agendas as people! LOL I wish that the ethics of all breeders were so idealistic. Unfortunately, I know differently. I don't sell pups unless I think the pup and the owner will be successful with each other. And all go on limited registration, with pre-agreed upon conditions for release. But the Canadian to/from registration and showing is a problem [as I recently found out!] so if Wildthing gets a Canadian born pup it has to be on open registration. You would hope that there would be a waiting list for those VA - VA pups and the homes would be picked to the pups best interests, not to a first come, first serve....

Hey Blitzen, Newbie, Charlie! We're back in one piece. Exhausting trip but it was the last time showing for us for a long time. I am trying to follow-up on this thread. I am alittle lost. Can you let me know the websites so I can do my homework. As you know this is a topic that I am interested in too. I hate to say it but I feel also terrible for the poor bitches that have been bred at each cycle until they die of some internal bleeding. What a sad life.

by Blitzen on 03 November 2004 - 19:11

Kougar, I've been "into" GSD's since the late 70's early 80's, most of my experience is with the older American lines which were mostly imports back then. Actually, I'm pretty much a dog nerd in general, I've always been interested in most working breeds and have always tried to learn what I could about most of them. I've only owned a GSD since 1994 and I won't have any other breed as a companion. I'm hooked LOL. I'm just not into breeding or showing AKC lines or in titling, so I won't think about breeding SV lines either. Frankly, I prefer GSD's over Mals for a lot of reasons. I haven't been on any of the breed boards for long and I am really surprised at how this breed is exploited. What a shame. Yes, I did think that puppies sired by dogs like Kevin would be of considerable value to the breeding programs of others with showlines and that there would be better choices for prospective owners than BYB's. Guess I'm wrong? LOL. It sounds like you are quite particular about the homes for your dogs and I salute you for that.

Just back from Wa state to visit the great Kevin v Murrtal.I see the same shit goes on even when a person is gone for some days, it is rehasded over and over. First and foremost, I am not a farmer, never was nor know a dam thing about it darn it. I was a horse breeder, trainer, exhibitor and winner some many moons ago. NOW.: I am a Hobbist Breeder on S.S. as Blitzen is on Disability and I am not and I also own an Auto Detailing Business as he knows in Pa as He lives also. He does not full me with a disguise as he does Kougar and the reat, he is known to be a smooth operator. Now: i am not a BYB by sorts or a Puppy Mill, I love my dogs too much to breed back to back as some do nor sell to just anybody. Please give me a break? You believe all the lies and non truths about me. Yes,, I am an old lady of 66 going on another one, but I truly belive in this breed to improve it with HD OFA at two years, If I tend to want to breed a younger bitch I do prelims on hips and elbows, U see I offer a two year warranty written. I forget all I read above being away a couple days but I am not a bad person and I would love to have a good trainer, have a good one for Obedience in Dr Ron , but I have yet to find a nice honest one.?? My dogs are DNA especially the two males. I buy good dogs to breed for people to own pets to work in a field they want to achieve a title with a good puppy. So, What is so wrong with that? Tell me a good reason why I cannot pay three grand for a good puppy to raise to two year, have all the tests done, hips, bleeders, tyroid, testicles, ears, soft teeth, hearth etc done before breeding them for my customers to feel assured at only 800 a puppy I have spent a bundle to know my dogs are clear, they are vetted, the pups that is and are wormed every 2 wks, parvo given at 2 wks., wormed every 2 wks, vetted by a vet at six and if being shipped revetted at 8 wks, for a health certificate to ship. why do some of u not ask Blitzen for his email so you can talk to him and visit his kennels also like mine. I got an email from a man in Texas on here interested in breeding to Kevin, I have not control of that, only my own that stands to no outside bitches. I am just enjoying what is left of my life and I do have cancer to deal with guys and u make it tough to deal with this shit and meds for that and try to have fun with my dogs and lil pups I adore bringing up for customers that are most content to buy from me for pets to work or just love. Please do not hassel with with nonsense I am here if anybody needs help that I can answer, other than that chit chat takes alot of time I do not have for dogs or myself anymore, please do not make my life more worse than it is already. My time is very limited, is yours here on earth?? Thanks guys.
