I purchased a boxer ? puppy born July 2007 from a breeder ? in Hungary. Dogs with the pedigree posted on his website appear to be all over Europe.

I waited 2 months for a specific puppy chosen from a photo for which I confirmed several times via email and telephone, my intention to purchase. After 2 months of waiting the puppy promised to me, black with some white between the eyes, was then described to me as having stomach intestinal problems and later I was told it was sold "as a pet" to someone in France.
Now...we are going on 8 months and I am still waiting for pedigree papers. He provided a passport which indicates a microchip number. The name on the passport checks out with I have the litter name and photos of the parent's and pedigrees still posted on his website.

To the credit of the "breeder" the puppy arrived as promised! However, I had to postpone my vacation because of concerns for his health as the puppy arrived looking very thin and long. In my opinion like a dog from an animal shelter.
Do Hungarian breeders typically under feed their dogs or do these boxers appear very sleek, long and thin in their early months of life?

At this point I am beginning to have doubts origins and pedigree. Even if there is a small claims court in Hungary.

I would love to hear from anyone having a similar experience with a Hungarian breeder. Would you like to share your experiences?

Looking forward.

This is the German Shepherd site  , you  might want to post on a boxer site.....Unless VeronicaK9 is reading this   , as she also is a boxer breeder.... there may not be very many expertise in the Boxer breed here...

Can we sell you a German Shepherd?????????????????????

Very astute of you to point that out, you sound a lot like my wife!
However, for all I know what they sent me could even be a German Shepherd. Should I be asking from you breeders for a German Shepherd to get a Boxer?
The obivous aside, my concerns are to find out if the Hungarian kennel club which I assume also registers GS dogs could possibly cause delays of this nature for the breeder? Assuming the breeder is on the up and up of course. Please read the full paragraph. Thanks.

Did you receive a Boxer or a German Shepherd Dog?

There's no mistaking the two.  A Boxer is clearly a Boxer.  Likewise for the German Shepherd Dog.

Do you have photos you can post?

Please disregard that last post.  Shame there isn't a "delete" or "edit" function on this board.

Good luck with your search for information.

Honestly, the hungarian kennel club can take a little while to get litter papers out, but the breeder should already have them.  I would BUG the breeder about the papers, as most likely the already have them and are just too lazy to send them.  I would also contact the hungarian kennel club to make sure there were no problems with the registration.

Large breed Dogs &puppies are generally kept very leaner in europe; its preffered in the showring and is believed to be better for the development of the joints.

Hey Ms. President Yellow Rose.  I have to correct you, I apologize aforehand Ms. President...I don't raise European Boxers.  I have a friend from Germany who has raised some Boxers, and I really like what I have seen of hers.  I am interested in them, and if I was not so involved with working line GSDs, I'd probably have one.  I love them, they are clowns and often smother you with physical affection.  It is quite common for Boxer pups to come over rather thinner than what we are used to, but without seeing yours, I cannot say if it was unhealthy looking or not.

The European Boxer people, as a bunch, are picky concerning who they sell to and what happens to their pups.  They almost NEVER sell an adult European Boxer, it is a different world from GSDs.  Perhaps if you contact the Hungarian Registry, they can help you with the issue.  Try getting after the breeders some more first.  Legal action may not be as far out of the picture as you think if you still do not get papers, I'd try all avenues.  European Boxers over here are a treasure.

Veronica
