With all the who ha in the past over this dog and his "elbow" issue which I have never found out exactly what went on I was wondering how many of his progeny had their elbows xrayed, how many passed and more importantly how many failed (if any). This is a genuine request not maligning the dog at all just curious as I felt the dog really was not treated fairly at the time.

I was wondering for those who have Nero progeny as breeding prospects... Do you guys educate your potential costumers who's wanting puppies out of these dogs about the problem with Nero and how SV banned him from breeding including progeny at a certain birth time? I think it's only fair to tell them. It makes me sad to hear that even the so called "reputable" breeders (or they like to claim their reputable status) that I see here are willing to take the risk of breeding to a dog that has ED. Yes the sons and daughters may have normal elbows but what about the next generation? aren't you guys worry about that? Are you going to be responsible for the potential elbow replacement surgeries? It's funny how people claim to breed strictly under SV regulations and standards, yet people still breed Nero progeny, knowing the double risk of producing ED and how they ignore and brush off the ban that SV placed on Nero in the first place. Whats the improvement of the breed is this?

I think the problem with Nero being banned was also a political thing ans since he has been cleared, the dog that is, why worry people about it. A lot of the problem were the people behind the dog...do you know why the ban went into play? Ask around...well, you will probably get a BUNCH of stories...but you will get educated. Ner and his progeny are clear now..that's the important thing. And I have no Nero of any kind in my kennel if you are wondering.

Congradulations Southern Import K9, SGBH and Sparky :-) I am happy to hear that. Nero sure looked liked a Dog with something positive to contribute. I am glad he has left some of that Good. Thanks for replying also. I was so upset years back when I heard they were going to null the pedigrees of all his progeny, I was upset and i did not even have anything to loose. Jo-Ann

Jo-Ann, just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the work you've been doing entering pedigrees on this site. I'd searched everywhere for info on Kismet's Kantrell and the Pinebuck dogs, without finding anything. Thank you for entering that info! My pup's seven generation pedigree is now complete! And you helped out Kalibeck, too, with the info on Doppelt-Tay's Hawkeye and his progeny, which was missing from her dog's ped. It's very frustrating trying to find the info for American dogs, unless you've got a full set of the red books, going back several decades! Sorry for the derailment...I now return you to your regular discussion! :-))

One of my reasons for posting was that to date I have not heard of one dog from Nero that has had bad elbows which makes me think maybe the ban was a load of rubbish to begin with especially now it has been lifted etc.
