I would like to ask the other board members on this messageboard to take a moment and review a few posts and give feedback. Please go and read the post "silly comments". Please give me feedback about your take. Are you tired of the constant threat of legal action to try to stifle your expression on this open forum? Are you tired the vulgarity that some members use toward other members? Why are members like the greek allowed? The few posts from this person were totally vulgar and had no mention of credibility relating to the achievements of the person making the attacks. Who the hell would want to come to this board to learn about GSDs witnessing this kind of behavior? Second, a photographer calling herself "scum" because she found a legal way to live off your property. I think there is a current movie out about the paparazzi. In the name of copyrite, they use your property to promote their career. (Keep in mind that this is in no way meant to demean from the work of a professional photographer that the host club of any said event may contract to do the photography of the event). And then go to the post Help!Need help on a breeder in CT". Well I did read other posts and did my homework and did call the local dog wardens and did ask a lot of questions but when I tried to share the results, the CT members (newly signed on, the greek and then his openly acknowledged friend, Dawnmarie) tried to slam me. I do not roll over. The greek has no credibility and has no right to slam anyone. He hides behind a fake identity. He uses vulgarity to compensate for lack of any beneficial donation to this board or to the protection of the breed. I use my name but do not have a public email because I use my computer from work and they have rules against that. I joined this board to find information about the sport and the GSD. I cannot believe that censorship is the perfect answer (reading post from other boards) but I really have to wonder about going to the far left (as this board offers) as an alternative. I invite other member opinions and hope that Oli can find a happy medium.

I just posted my opinion on the whole thing, I have copied it below. {This board used to be informative and a wonderful place to find answers to questions as the knowledge base is tremendous. The members were curtious and very willing to help the newbie learn about this outstanding breed. Right now you have to go back a long way to find an intelligent post that is not rude, name calling, threatening, or defensive. WOW, inpress me. This board has so much to offer with a database of info that is unparalleled anywhere else. It is being ruined by posts that have nothing to do with the dog. I used to be here daily enjoying the amount of information and intelligence exhibited by the members but not anymore. It has been taken over by newbies who have something to prove, that they are IDIOTS. The GSD possesses the fight drive exhibited here on this board but it also exhibits the intelligence to know when not to. Obviously a few humans need to take notice.} Jan ;-)

I am also new to this board as a member but I have been watching what is happening here for more thatn a year. I think the whole thing has to do with most of the members being dog profesionals. Threats, swear words, etc, do not come from normally thinking people and hobbyists but from those who feel threatened and in a panic situation (ie those who expect to live on dogs). I do not think if something can be done at this point. I mean, certainly somenting can be done but will it ever happen? If there is even 1 and only person who does not respect this it will never happen. This database will end up as a swear words cyber space among the low level and so called "proffesionals" with the rest of us watching at fisrt and after a short time unsubscribing from the database. SO, I SUGGEST THIS TO ALL: ACCEPT PEOPLE AS THEY ARE AND TRY TO GET THE VERY BEST OUT OF EACH ONE OF THEM (whether this is knowledge, hints & tips, help, or support).

Part of the problem is not everyone knows the level of experience that all the posters have. Comments that are very opinionated from the less experienced can have permanent impact on peoples reputations whether they deserve it or not. This is the problem. Many of the situations commented on are pretty much normal when you hear the other side and no one was really as good or as bad as the post started out. There's a lot of BS posted about BS. Please lets be as considerate and responsible as possible when posting. It may help to include facts and details about your experience that cause you to form the opinion you have. This may help others understand better and offer advice or constructive criticism without discussions getting personal.

Petros, Dog1...Though I just recently registered (again--lost my logon/password), I have been frequenting this database for well over a year and agree with what both of you have said. Great posts!

by Amaras on 11 September 2004 - 18:09

Well put Dog1!!!!! Everyone needs to stop the BS, and get back to basics...Stop all the criticisms without proper explanations. And yes, reputations can be damaged and profits lost. Face it people, the show and working GSD breeders have a serious business...And that's not to say they don't love the breed, heck don't we all??? Love the GSD? I agree with Petros & Dog1.....

Thank you all for your civil and well put posts. It is comforting to see intelligence. Mykee, I read some of your past comments on here and see you use to be quite vocal. I like the more recent you and thank you for the humorous note. There has been a lot of BS out there, now lets wait and see when the truth comes out (and who will dare to discuss it). Until then have fun with your dogs.

If it was not for the German Shepherd Dog, none of us would be on this board. It's NOT about US, but the dogs'! When people start putting themselves first, and forget what got them there to begin with(THE DOGS'), then there should be alot of soul searching on everyones' part. The rudeness and hurtfulness must stop. Thank-you, Dawn Bonome
