I am curious how often everyone washes there dogs?  I have not washed my dog in 6 months and he doesn't seem to need a washing.  All I do is brush him regularly and it seem to workout for him.

In the summer they tend to get bathed more.  They'll probably only get bathed once over the winter.  Depends on how dirty or smelly they get!  Living in the house they probably get bathed more than a kennel dog would.  :)  Only because well, we gotta live with them!

Only regular baths every 6 months.  If I am showing it is one day before the event.  Other than that a good brushing does the trick.

We have garden hose parties in the summer, but
other than that, I prefer to first brush or comb the dog,
then get a warm wet face cloth & wipe down the dog from
head to toe, then take a wet face cloth & clean the nooks
and crannies in their ears, wipe their teeth too with the face
cloth, then check those toe nails,
any that start to hook are clipped,

Then hug your dog, go to the frig, grab a brewski,
settle into your easy chair and put your feet up!!!

My boy lives in the house so he gets a bath often. at least once a month and after an agility trial. Most of the agility rings are dusty and tends to cause my boy to scratch so its bath time. in the summer its mostly play time with the hose but still he gets a good bath at least once a month or sooner if needed. He does have to have one before an obedience trial too.

I probably bath every three months in the winter ( in the bath tub) with exception. If we have had a search , especially if it was a building collapse with fire.

In the spring and summer, I swim my dogs about once a week.

Rain doesn't hurt for washing either, except I prefer to use shampoo.

Unless they get into something disgusting I don't find that ours need more than brushing a few times a week and I'll wipe ears and face a couple times a month.  In the summer they do swim with us a few times a week in the salt water pool, so that does help alot.

We train on a very dirty field, so my dogs get baths when they feel dirty or stinky and that varies, usually once every 6 weeks or so.  I have not found this to be a problem with skin issues or anything like that, and they like getting baths.

On an as needed basis unless we have to search a particularly nasty drug house.  Then it is more of a decontamination issue (all though it does make me feel secure in my housekeeping skills )  :) Since Barbie is in the house a lot she doesn't get as nasty as a kennel dog would.

Kaiser1979,

I do have to bath my dogs if they are going to an OB show, and now Theo
visits with the elderly, I'm teaching Theo some silly pet tricks, like to roll
over & shake hands, to entertain the people, so I guess he should look
clean from top to bottom, but I really don't like to give a GSD many baths
cause it does take out their natural oils, and sometimes can dry their skin.
Oatmeal shampoo is pretty good stuff.
Sometimes, just a regular good brushing or combing has them looking good.
I guess it would make a difference too if they are kennel or house dogs,
mine are house mutts!
