Uber Land

by Uber Land on 13 September 2007 - 17:09

I am aware of the opinion on American bred dogs on this site.  I actually find it quite disgusting on how some of the posters react when someone mentions anything about an american kennel or an american dog they recently purchased.  I personally would like to post a photo of my gangly, immature 18 month old male and I would like to hear what people think whats wrong with him, and what could be improved on.

Please be aware, he is out of coat from the Texas Summer, and is still a teenager.   Sorry about no pedigree, I haven't had time to get it posted.  I am open to critisism as long as it is educated.

Personally, I wouldn't have thought him to be American lines, I like his look!

At 18 months he still has time to built muscle.  Nice rich color. Nice stance.

Can I ask?-------what's your highest degree temp you've had this summer?  Never been to Texas!

 I'm a New  Englander!

I think the highest is 105, but it has been hotter in recent years.  several years ago it reached 110 as a high.  and that is without heat index or humidity factored in.

Hi Uber Land:    where in Texas are you    Im in Tyler.....it has been 108 here and that is why my babies stay inside in their cages in a/ c during the days it is so scorching....with the heat and nasty rains we have had,,, ant,s fleas, flies, roaches, mice, ,mealy bugs. grasshoppers, and weird looking long field bugs, and all sorts of things not good for babies.....for 16 days ita has rained not for 19 days no rain.....

Ilike my puppies safe and clean   and I let them play in the whelping boxes some as long as they havae done their business.... not into policeing th poop brigade.....

I am in the ft. worth area.  I supply plenty of cool fresh water, a kiddy pools. along with having about 15 big oak tree's for them to lay under.  I feel they are a working breed, so should be able to handle the elements.

I have a lot of trees also, just dont let babies roam , as they can get into to much and My  cattle fence would allow some to get out until they are bigger...during these hot days I put them in thenursery..., its been unusually hot , humid, and their tongue hanging out,,,so I rather keep them cleaner , with people coming to look,,,,,,,at them......Three acres of lots of trees and a creek that has ways of getting out , if they are smart enough.....bigger pups are fine, but come back all nasty , and roll in pounds of dirt and dig nice hole.s   after they are beyond recognition , I put them back in their kennels...and hose them down and they are fine , as long as they arent coming inside or in my truck....then that requires head and shoulders......

Where is the cool front we were suppose to get.??? I have a pup in Royce City, and Rockwall, and Mckinney , Murpheyville, Mesquite, (4) seagelville, brashear, Alba, 2 in Winnsboro, Dallas, Waxahachie...Kaufman....so which one is closest to you...do you know Charles Darnell,.of de doppellhaus?

I think he looks fine and not as extreme angulated as many American lines. You are right in that many here prefer German lines but as they continue to develop the banana back it is making it harder to critize the straight backs of the American lines.

As long as your boys has good drives, nerves and temperment you looks nice. The pic would have been bettter to have his ears pricked forward.

Uberland-from what I understand there are many who have a problem with the pedigrees of the Am. lines. Unfortunately the AKC style of registration does nothing to enhance the reputation of conscientious Am. line breeders. And while there are unscrupulous breeders from all lines the SV registration method seems to put somewhat more restriction on the ease with which irresponsible breedings occur. I am no expert but these are my impressions of the issue.

If you were to post the pedigree of your dog it would probably make people more willing to make an assesment of the quality of the dog you have inquired about. As well as some indication of his temperament and working ability. I'm sure you are more aware than I that a picture tells very little of a dog in and of itself.

Regards,

Dawgs

On  a slow day I drop in on a AKC show (every few years)  and for the most part I see very few  what I consider quality GSD's but from time to time I do see a few that I like. But I do agree overall it seems in my limited exposure the American Breeders have done very little to impove the working qualities which to me without you do not have the true GSD as it should be.

I would love to see pictures of everyones gsd's on here that like to put down everyone elses dogs to tell ya the truth.  It would be great to see the pictures of the ones who continuously put my dog down, because he is somewhat of a long coat.  Post away people, lol.  I know, I know Kristi, ut oh, here she goes again, LOL.
