hearing of high number of progeny with soft ears, not standing up... nice dams, even on Fleisherheim site picture of nice female with ear taped.

I'm just finishing up a Whisky litter of four. All ears stood beautifully before 8 weeks. They went down again during teething but are up now at 16 weeks. We use a lightweight, ventillated ear form from Germany when needed on puppies. And I include 2 tbsp of plain, unflavored gelatin on their food twice daily, 2 tbsp of cottage cheese or plain yogurt per meal, plenty of raw meaty bones (knuckle or shank) for chewing exercise and lots of "watch me" play to encourage ear standing. Schaeferhund, a friend in Germany gets the forms for me and brings them over when he handles for shows. I have NO idea where he's getting them, but I'll ask next time I email him. I usually have a good supply here, if anyone needs them, just email me. I charge what he charges me. As for the older dog, at this point, about the only thing that will work is a surgical implant. Hi, Brian! The implant is a ventillated silicon material that allows the blood vessels to bond through it. It IS breakable and is a one time only surgery. Personally, I think a floppy ear adds some dash and charm to a pet and the only drawback is that sometimes they're more inclined to develop ear infections than their more erect eared cousins.
