Check out Nikonis Yago (Champion GB) a Timo Berrekasten son with all necessary qualifications who is producing very well in the UK and can be available at stud in Germany or Europe.  Again this is a dog who is even darker in real life than his photo shows.  Sorry don't know how to put the link in here but he is on the database.

Animules, one thing I can tell you for sure. They will all be black, lol. Why? You don't like Paska? I spent a lot of time researching on German forums, asked for opinions in Germany and here and that is why we picked him. Linebreeding will be Arek Stoffelblick.

Nikki, I might know your dog. Was he in Germany last year in the summer at Gerd's?

Silbersee,

Well that's kinda my point.  Granted I've only been a member of USA for 5 or 6 years now, but every Sieger show issue that I've seen of the USA mag has dozens of pictures of the top rated dogs in every category, and they are all b/r or b/t.  It appears that those coat colors are the only ones the show judges will select for high placement.  So I guess to succeed in the show ring you gotta produce what the judges want to see, and as their tastes shift over the years, you have to keep modifying what you got to keep up with the changes.

On the other hand, if you want a dog with "beauty" and sound structure there are a variety of V-rated kkl1 working line dogs out there.  No need to mix with show lines to get V, kkl1.  Unless there's other things you want to get out of that combination, and that's another matter.

What do you mean when you say black dogs are "often treated as a byproduct" by workingline breeders?  Would you please clarify?  Thanks!

Yvette

Silbersee,

I was wishing you true good luck, not being sarcastic, really.  To have a chance at a bitch and breeding like that is a great thing.  Paska is a nice dog!  I was hoping to see more information on the pups but I REALLY don't need another dog..............  LOL, Famous last words.  We have a Salztalblick male and a Salztal-Hohe female.

Animules, sorry! I thought you were being sarcastic. My apologies! I like the Salztalblick dogs (Salztal-Höhe, Haus Salztalblick) too and the Stadtfeld dogs.

Yvette, everybody is entitled to his or her opinion. Beauty means different things for different people! My opinion is that both sides would benefit from "mixing" these lines, after having spent a lot of time talking with people in Germany and researching lines as well. If for nothing else, when just to diversify lines. Workinglines are just as "bottlenecked" (for lack of a better definition) as showlines. But this is off topic. What I meant with being "treated as a byproduct" is that a lot of people shy away from black dogs and if given a choice, choose a bi-color, black/tan or sable. The reasons differ but come down to two main arguments: Supposedly, black dogs can overheat quicker and can therefore not be worked as hard/long etc. than others, or a black dog will show a lot of confirmation deficits like light eyes, lighter bone structure etc. This does not reflect my opinion. That is just what I was told over and over again. So, breeders do not like to breed specifically for that color, but that is exactly what I have in mind.

Having a few sable showline dogs has often had me asking different judges opinions of Sable Vs. Black and Red. The judges I have talked to would like to put a sable in the front of the class, but where is there one that has the structure to deserve the placing?

I recall the sieger show in Bakersfield where I believe it was Quentessa von Turbo placed first. Very nice sable female. Udo won all the shows he was entered in except two. The judges didn't seem to mind putting him up in first as a sable.  I remember Gina Silbersee placed first in CT a few weeks before the 2006 sieger show.

I see the problem being a good sable to show more than a predjudice against sables.

Hello Chris - Yes he was in Germany with Gerd last October.  He did his lebenzeit and gained V6 at his first and only show in Germany behind 3 VA dogs so we were well pleased with him!!

Looks like Arlett is bringing sable working lines back to their show stock.  Check out the "Wurfe" page on Arlett website:  http://www.arlett.de/wuerfe/index.html

Orry von den Wanner Hohen and Yenny von Arlett (Laius Moorbeck daughter)

Would I like to have one of those puppies!
