Quite right Moons, I don't think the white chest spot indicates anything either, and yes it is minor.

Silbersee, I don't have all my old pedigrees at work with me, but I do know that progeny of dogs like

and

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/181.html

produced solid blacks with a white "medallion" on their chests.  Note, not a white patch - I've seen blacks passed off as "solid blacks" with a big white blotch/patch/thing on their chests

Thats a fine looking specimen.

This will get ya,
I have a website I visit just looking around ya know.  They advertise the best in working blacks.
In a picture of one of their famous solid blacks you can see the white spot they attemped to hide with photoshop.
Shoe polish would have done a better job.
Some people !!

I would bet that dog is genetically black, but has "bleeding" in his feet and maybe up his legs. Yes?

by eichenluft on 12 February 2009 - 15:02

Jenni78, that is my opinion as well.  Many black dogs (genetically black, will give only black color genes to their offspring) have 'bleeding" of brown or grey on the lower legs, feet, between toes - which often gets more obvious as the dog ages.  If the dog does not have a distinct brown "spot" over the vent, it is a black dog, bleeding or not.

Here is a black dog I have with the bleeding.  He is not bicolor.

OK Molly, please tell us who this handsome male is.

Thanks

by eichenluft on 12 February 2009 - 16:02

He is Kaos vom Eichenluft Schh3,OFA Good - son of my own Arrow v Zuckerburg Schh3 - daughter of Aik v Haus Cindy.  Kaos is a son of the black dog (with bleeding Xito v Maineiche - here is Xito - black dog with bleeding (not bicolor) - bad picture but you can see the brown on his front legs.  He also had brown between toes.
