Balance on forum - Page 6

I am a member of NUMEROUS messageboards from dogs, to file sharing, to technology, to motorcycles and others.  Threads get locked all the time and everyone realizes it and moves on once it happens.

This is the ONLY site where people complain about threads being locked.  I have no issue with them being locked as it is a way to make folks move on b/c the topic is no longer what the thread was about.
If people hate it and choose to leave then so be it.  Create your own messageboard and police it how you see fit. Hell Prager did it and there is a wealth of knowledge there.  No one is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to stay here.

I have been a moderator at other sites and no it isn't easy but sometimes you have to protect people from themselves.  People here would rather argue and get the last word than to just say nothing and find another thread that they could post valuable information on.   Many of the poeple that complain about it here usually argue in many of the threads and end up off topic.

Everyone has a choice.  Decide what it is for you.  Way too much blaming mods and all and less looking in the mirror and admitting you have equal blame in a lot of how this board has become.

I agree with the comments made by gustav (OP).  There has definately been an increase in the involvement of the moderators in many threads and its beginning to run like a nanny state.  I appreciate if TOC has been breached or usage of foul language or revealing personal data of others without permission etc but comments on threads even if it goes skewed topic should be allowed to run without interjection.

Whatever happen to members moderating themselves?  What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

So lets hope the moderators (bless them) be less authoritarian please.
