Thanks for all the answers so far! Like I said earlier,I dont plan on getting one anytime soon, but thats why Im starting to do research now. The thing that I really wanted to know is, does anyone personally recommend any trainers?

I agree with hired dog..... get a male fila puppy from a good breeder. I know 2 in florida. Ive seen puppies from these breeders grow into TRUE MANSTOPPERS with NO TRAINING needed. i seen one female that i was not so sure of. Maybe mayne not. With some training she would without a doubt. But the males... They will frickin eat you. No joke about it.

yeah but is the bite full and calm when you are being eaten?, that is singly the MOST important thing in a dog and it genetics you know!!

My dog bites full, calm and crushes on "real" bites.  Every street bite has been full and crushing, and yes it's genetic.  Every suspect has given up quickly, and I would compare the suspect's reactions to his bite to almost being tased.  Except the pain from the bite lasts a whole lot longer.  Genetic full bites that have been enhanced through good training, not screwed up by lousy work and lousy decoys.  No points are awarded on the street, but the bite shows my dog's desire to be in the fight and win.  It is a function of confidence, drive, natural civil aggression, coupled with training a controlled rage that teaches the dog he can not lose.  Full bites are not necessary for a Patrol dog or a PPD but they are very desirable, especially for what I do.  Frontal bites certainly hurt and do damage, but if the dog does not re grip into the bite and push deeper it may only have clothing which doesn't do us any good.  The dog must be taught to constantly go deeper on the bite and most dogs lack the genetics, confidence and nerve strength to do this naturally, especially on a real bite.

Just to expand on what Slam is saying, (JMO).... if you ever see a Bad Guy with his jacket, pants or shirt ripped off and they are still standing...... is because the dog is afraid to commit to the fight.

The initial bite hurts, but the purpose of the re-bite is to get a good hold and begin crushing action.

The Real Damage, from a Hard Dog..... is not the holes it puts in you, it is the subcutaneous tissue damage that the dog does. Bone crushing pain and damage.

And it hurts.....a lot.

flashy1- Send Slamdunc a PM, he may know of a good trainer in your area

You are very correct, a severe unilateral hematoma when the arm is crushed by a strong dog and the swelling goes completely around the entire arm.  Like someone putting your arm in a vice, slamming it shut only the vice has canines.  Yes, it hurts an awful lot!  Flashy1 should travel to Canada and train with you.  You do some excellent training up there and I'm sure it would be a good time.
