Definitely less poo and less stinkiness on Orijen LBP than other kibble... About half a (small) handful once a night. Even less/less objectionable poo sounds awesome :-)

Curiosly, is there a difference in water consumption and pee trips outside on raw?

I'd like to see if a raw diet has an effect on urine production rate, too, GSCat. I'm currently watching a very weird scenario with my 6 year old rescue dog (kibble fed), who, as a neutered male, is still 'puppy peeing' (never lifts a leg - well I have known that before but they do usually still start leg-cocking sometimes, around 3 yrs old) only once every time he goes outside (so he is peeing 3 or 4 times per day max.) I don't think this is having any ill-effect on his body, but it is odd. Comments, anyone ?

Well not the salt that is used in the kibble. Think that is healthier.

In my experience less water consumption is normal with a raw diet. The food has a lot of moisture already in it unlike kibble. I never paid attention to potty trip frequency.

Thank you! Yes, I see the brand online, but only in the UK, under that name, as you said.

I know what you mean about the linseed/flaxseed (samething). Lin/flax seed oil along with AlphaAlpha made one of my dogs start scratching himself a lot. So I had to avoid that in the past.

Water consumption:
Oh yes, there is a huge difference!
On raw, dogs don’t drink a lot of water (in normal temps and activity).
When I feed kibble, I do moisten it and let it soak a bit before feeding, but still, first stop after eating is them running to the water bowl and slurping up a good amount. And, again about 15 minutes later...and then several times a day, very long drinks.

With raw, I almost never see them go for water....and never long drinks (unless its very hot outside)


 

I saw a major difference after feeding raw, too - as in, my dog got so sick within two days she had to be admitted to hospital. Took a week for her to feel better and that was after switching back to *gasp* kibble and *even bigger gasp* veterinary gastro diet.

I let someone talk me into raw against my better judgement. NEVER AGAIN. There's no evidence it's any good and plenty that it's bad.

There is almost certainly another explanation for what's going on with your dog.

What “plentiful” evidence might you have to support that raw feeding is”bad” ~ I would appreciate you posting said evidence so I can research the source.

But please find the time to respond to your other claims from the thread I started“Come Again”,,,,
