Felix Hollenstein, a former ice hockey and current trainer of the Kloten Flyers (1st league ice hockey team in Switzerland) does breed GSDs here in Switzerland and is our current GSD club president.

No offense, but why does it matter what fancy-pants celebrities own GSD's? What are they... lawn decorations? Ornaments? Toys for the rich and famous? It seems to me it's just an ego trip, for the GSD enthusiast to say "Yes, Mrs. Filthy Rich chose to flush some of her grossly disposable income on a GSD instead of a teacup poodle," or "Yes, Mr. Macho Movie Man bought a GSD instead of a Presa Canario to show what a tough guy he is." Hey, no offense to any of our above-average income GSD owners, but just because celebrities are rich and famous doesn't mean their dog's s**t doesn't stink like ours! I would never judge the merits of a dog or a breed of dog by which rich Playboy decides to collect them. We already have an over-breeding problem with pet dogs, and the GSD has been all but ruined due to mass breeding. God forbid we have more celebrities prancing around on Hollywood Boulevard with their GSD's, thus fueling even more demand by the uninformed public to purchase GSD pups as fashion accessories. John F. Kennedy Jr. had a GSD before he died. I believe he took him from a shelter. But quite a few pictures showed him with his dog.

Wow, Yvette. Might just be that people enjoy learning they have similar tastes to people they admire--even from afar. It's on a par with another analogy--like people who conclude that because their 'sign' is Libra, they must have something in common with the celebrities, Clive Owen, Antonio Banderas, and Gwyneth Paltrow--who are likewise, Librans. Years ago, while watching the credits run after viewing the movie "Lethal Weapon", I observed that real-life, casual pictures were being displayed of each person involved in making the movie. One of the photos was of a man beside 2 beautiful GSDs. Totally peaked my interest. Don't quote me--but, I believe this was the movie's director, Richard Donner, with his pets. Many years later, Richard Donner directed another movie called "Radio Flyer". The storyline was hard to stomach--physical child abuse. The only saving grace of this movie was the hero, Shane, a beautiful GSD. (I remember thinking that director really loves German Shepherds and his love led him to portray the breed so heroically.) Just trivia, Yvette. But, trivia about GSDs is fun.

I posted a link to the web site of Floyd 'Red Crow ' Westerman a little way back on this thread, he has pix of all his famous GSD customers; one of them was Sting...& coincidentally someone was posting on here a while ago whose moniker was 'Sting'. Could it be??? Probably just a coincidence....but LMH, you're right, it's fun to think about!(when I have a half moment TO think!!LOL)jo

jo-- Just realized another coincidence--another brush with silly, but fun, trivia--'Sting' was born in October and that makes him---yes---a LIBRA.

Hello SchHBabe, This thread was started by me about 1 month back. I had forgotten also about this thing also. But you started all over again. Thanks for that. Many other people also participated this time. I must tell you this was just a fun knowing if any celebrity is sharing a same passion as we all are. Dont take it too seriously. And suppose any celeb is calling a GSD breed a shit breed that does not change my love for the breed. I will just say that this celebrity is mad and move on. Okay Enjoy the GSD and long life to GSD and GSD lovers.
