Catman -- that is completely opposite from anything that my friend experienced.    Just like dogs -- there are also some really loony-toons "bouncing off the walls" type dogs" and I can't imagine anybody who would want one of those.   Just sayin'

Oh, so you know what "he" owned -- someone who you do not know.   Silly man.

I'll write him an email about this tomorrow; maybe he will give me more info, and I will share it with you.

Maggie Mae, even the wackiest, most ill bred, nutjob dog is absolutely nothing like a wolf hybrid mentally. The closest I have ever seen to a wolfdog temperament in a domestic dog, are dogs who are rescued at adolescence/maturity who previously lived as feral. Only one dog, one, in 11 years of professionally training 100-250+ dogs a year, had what I would deem a personality similar to a wolf hybrid. Yes, they are difficult, but you cannot fathom what it is like trying to train a wolf versus a dog. You may as well try to do obedience with a goldfish or schutzhund with a house cat for how similar they are.

Chances are your friend's dog had a significantly lower percentage of wolf than they were led to believe, if any at all. Look at the NAID (North American Indian Dog), while some breeders use wolf, there is a large group of NAID breeders who are deeply against using wolf, yet their dogs look strikingly wolf-like. I would be very curious to see photos of your friend's dog.

Shoot, you know how many people think sable GSDs are wolf hybrids?

I'll ask him if he has some pix.   I am telling you what I have been told.   His sister -- a very good friend of mine -- was also around this wolf-dog without any problem.   I'll let you all know what I find out.

Maggs, that just proves more! Try to do protection work with a wolf. I have seen it. They run behind their owner and howl, calling for help. That's why I said you know nothing about genetics. Generation after generation, these dogs have passed on what keeps them alive. FLEE!!!

Now, I don't want to start another debate but are we (Maggie) talking about like a, Timber Shepherd. because there are differences between wolves and Timber wolves, they are not the same.

The Timber Wolf (also known as the Eastern Wolf) is a subspecies of the gray wolf.

Just asking.
