Don Corleone

by Don Corleone on 27 August 2010 - 20:08

Yoshy I've had 2 litters that were repeat breedings. It wasn't that the first was so phenomenal that we had to do it again, but that it was just fun to breed. In fact, the first litter wasn't even the first breeding. I had tried several females prior to this breeding, but never a result. I would say that the top half of the pedigree is definitely the better half. The bitch is exactly that, a bitch. Independent and untrainable. The first litter yielded a single female. As pretty as can be, but has a temper. The second breeding gave us a single male. Very obedient and has a natural retrieve. We kept both offspring and they are together all the time. The female is dominant and always gets what she wants. Typical, right? She doesn't share any of her toys. As good as the first two litters were, there will not be another.

I reluctantly submit that I have bred a litter that is only 6 mo. old so hard to be certain but so far very promising.  Yes von der Hegge/Javir vom Talka Marda.  The bitch is light in color, but produces darker pigment.  She has such unbelievable drive-she does not care for her own safety in her determination to reach her goal.  Very dominant, pushy bitch! She has some balance in the work but is pretty prey driven. Her body structure is for unusual speed & quickness. No neuroses or health issues. FH, 8X SchH III.  LGA competitor.

Javir is of course well known. Videos are everywhere. I'm told by a friend who visits his breeders that this is a "real" dog & is comfortable to live with.

The breeding is an outcross, the pedigree a who's who of GSDs. I am very fortunate to have such a good "nick" & I plan to repeat the breeding. I hope to bring back my female puppy to linebreeding on sire's side.  I'm a neophyte so plans have not gelled.  I'm researching & consulting. My goal is remarkably similar to Jen's, who I admire.  I aim to preserve the aggression in a trustworthy working or sport dog.

The litter shows great promise-unusual confidence, good bite behaviors, super food & prey drives.  Only 1 female had less confidence than the others, but still a strong puppy.  She is in a pet home.  The males went to Schh competitors in Co, Boston & NC.  Of the females, 2 are here in my club & I'm happy to watch them develop. 1 is in Montreal to do SchH.  All owners are happy with their pups energy, confidence, work propensity.  They engage eagerly without misgivings, fast, very possessive, social, tenacious. My own puppy will V rate, I believe, as will the other females.  I haven't seen the males since they shipped, so unsure.  The pet home is totally happy with their puppy.  Stay tuned.  We shall see...
