Judy,

Perhaps it is the lactating bitch that you recently found running on a busy road.

Oh you mean the lactating bitch that was eating road kill on a highway and almost got hit by two speeding cars?  That breeder would probably dump a faulty female with a rescue.

Guys, you don't need the tattoo number, just use logic.

Look at who the mother is of this dog, http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/657847.html

Unless of course it's two different dogs, coindicentally both older West German showlines, who both live in Chicago area and have the exact same name, Inni.

Hope someone adopts her soon. If anyone needs any help let me know.
The pits for an owner to dump a dog, but a breeder... I hope this one gets bashed big time...where ever it can be done....

I just helped someone fill out the online application for this girl so let's hope it works.  Nice gentleman who is retired and dearly loves his animals.  She would be showered with attention and most likely end up sleeping in his bed at night.  She deserves that.

Judy, very promising news.  She absolutely deserves a nice retired gentleman who can spoil her rotten.

Doberdoodle, I saw that particular Inni but figured it wasn't her because the age was off by a year, and the rescue group specifically stated that this Inni was SchH titled and conformation rated.  But maybe you're right...

Most rescues don't even know what Schutzhund is.  The rescue is saying she's 7, the pedigree of her online is saying she's 8.  You really think there's that many West German retired breeding females named Inni in Chicago?

I'm not a breeder but if she's 7-8 years old, how is that she "had a rough life & was used for breeding until recently?"  How old can you breed a female?  I guess this may have been her last breeding http://www.iclassifiedsus.com/chicago/pets/dogs-puppies/top-quality-red-black-akc-german-shepherd-puppy_I143930.html

Ya, Doberdoodle, I know most rescues don't know what SchH is--nor do they know anything about show ratings, which is why I presume that they were given this info directly from the breeder who surrendered her to them; where else would they have heard of such things?  They also said they have her papers but wouldn't be providing them to anyone adopting her.   Like I said--you may be right; I passed on thinking she was listed here in the DB because that wasn't the only "Inni" I found, the age was off by a year, and there was no mention of titles or show ratings for Inni v G-whatsits Witz (I don't want to go look the name back up, too lazy).

Anyone know the breeder who uses vom Haus Cander as their kennel name and is willing to ask them if they dumped this bitch in rescue?

"How old can you breed a female?"

Until she stops having heat cycles and ovulating, biologically-speaking, which can continue well after a bitch reaches senior status.   As far as registries go, I believe the only restrictions are that after a certain age, the AKC requires DNA to be done (haven't bred any dogs since 1989, so I didn't keep up on that stuff) and I don't know about other registries.  Ethically-speaking, that would depend somewhat on the health of the bitch, number and sizes of previous litters & intervals of those...but most folks tend to retire their brood bitches by age 8-10 years, unless they develop a health issue.

Like this bitch did--remember, the breeder dumped her in rescue because the bitch had a tumor that the breeder thought was cancerous.  So an early 'retirement' via a rescue was provided for this Inni.

As for the 'rough life' description, a lot of folks who do rescue believe that a life that's spent kenneled 24/7/365, doing *nothing* beyond  popping out puppies, with no housedog privilages and no companionship time with an owner, no trips to the store or the park, isn't much of a life at all.  Frankly, I don't think what I just described is much of a life for a dog, either.

I just hope this potential adoptor JudyK worked with today passes the screening and it all works out for this Inni.
