Agree with most everything that I have read so far. Herm Sprenger prong collars are great. Get the quick release so you can use the number of links to make the collar fit properly, snug, then easy to take off and on.
As far as Petdumb, or Petco, all the same. Morans at best. If you give them 5 pts on an IQ test they can equal a plant. I have watched their obedience and I squirm and get so agitated I have to leave. If they start telling you you are abusing your dog in any way, in front of patrons, regardless of the issue, I would start talking to someone about lawsuits. I would scare the Sh.. out of them. They are no ones to talk about abuse. These are the type people and organizations that I keep harping about. I had better quit while I am ahead, I can get real nasty when these type of goody goody bleeding heart supposed dog people come up. By the way, they are soft. Soft is not the real issue but it is apart of it. Just Dumb is the best definition.
Hello Hodie, What is wrong with Ray Allen? Serious question.

So you say when you are on a field doing formal ob she is great, but with a lot of distractions she starts to ignore you? Are you talking about an organized group or club where you practice? It sounds like either she has learned she can get away with things at times or you haven't proofed her with distractions.
It's really hard to give good advise when we can't actually see the situation. If you belong to a club, I would ask for help from my fellow club members. Maybe those with very stable dogs wouldn't mind heeling around you so as to begin adding in distractions, and so you can correct your dog in a controlled environment. If you are doing schutzhund, how is your dog with the group? Have people without their dogs mill around and correct your dog if she moves out of correct position. Then maybe add in a really good dog/handler team who wouldn't mind heeling around with you. Then correct her when she pays attention to anything but you, and maybe work in more teams once she gets the message.

Also, is the fursaver just a better designed choke collar? I'm thinking I should get both, and I my friend with the wolfhounds' dogtrainer likes using the little links? What are your reasons to use a different size?
My dog just weighed in at the vets at 75.5 lbs and I just measured his neck at 18". What sizes would you suggest? Small link, size 20"? Does that sound about right?
Thanks for your help.

beetree I usually use the medium sized on my guys, only because they both have such thick fur around their necks! Well, when Lexie has blown her coat and is bald, then I can use the small for a short time. LOL
Especially my male, the small would just get lost!
