Please don't pray for any such thing. I understand your feelings, but such a law will only penalize the good, caring people, while as always the ones out to make a buck will simply ignore the law and do what they want.
Education is the answer. Truly. All the buzzwords on that site, you'd think the dogs were all working police dogs or SchH III's, but when you look at it, the studs are just babies - 1 year old all of them - and there are NO titles, NO hip x-rays, NOTHING. If people are educated then they will have the same reaction as we do - what do you mean, "ultimate," "world class," "healthy" - NOTHING about your dogs is proven in any of these things.
How many of us started with a pet and learned to ask about OFA hips, etc.? Education will wipe out these people, let's not pass any more laws. Sure, there will always be suckers, but education is the answer!

I'm glad there are great breeders out there that take the time out to produce great dogs (health) and what the breed is suppose to be and represent. I'm not a breeder nor do I want to be. I do however educate people who buy dogs from petstores or from non legitment breeders. If there is a way to pass a law to destroy puppy mills and petstores selling puppies ...I hope it happens and i am for it. If people want to break laws then we should start hitting them up with heffty(sp) fines when they are caught. For exmaple, I had a discussion with one of my patients who came to me about high kill shelters. If people want to give up dogs left and right they need to come up with shelter fees of relenquishing a pet. So that they will learn next time what it takes to own and care for one. Yeah, they may end up letting them go to run the streets then to avoid such fees but then they should be hit with a bigger fine or time in jail to teach them. May be in some ways I see things are wrong and some disagree but its not fair to the dogs. They didn't ask to be here!!! People choose to bring them here and not be responsible.
I would recommend any one to buy from a reputable breeder who is not looking to produce quanity($$$) of dogs only quality. I wish more people will stop buying from the local petstore and open their eyes!

No way I would vote for anymore government control...It wont work anyway. People will go underground and people are too smart to stop cruelty to animals by breeding crap to sell the public..
Asking for laws to punish us for everyones misdeeds is not a democratic governing policy . That is a dictatorship and we already have that in full swing.
If I dont pay my income taxes, I cant say OH I mad a mistake...please forgive me..and the tax lien on your property is not something you can get removed easily...
People have lost their whole bank accounts, homes, and jobs because IRS went in and legally tapped them for owing a measly 10,450. 00 in accumulated taxes because they lost jobs and were both out of work and had to live indajent and were working as contract labor , which means you have to pay , not taken from your check...When the bombshell hit them,,the IRS did not care if they had no job or couldnt find one in a timely matter....boom....saving they had was gone and bank account with less than 200.00 in it was taken out from under their noses and a lien put on everything they had....
Now we have three nominees with major tax problems they just happened to overlook one dropped out today , a woman,,,the other is trying to convince the people of the usa that he made a bad oversight...yeah right 125,000.00 for speaking at a Health conference .And he didnt know he had to pay taxes for 3 years on services he received...oh wow....if he is that stupid ..why is he running any department in our government that mine and your taxes are paying for....
Government control 101 doesnt matter what they do ,,,just say Oh I made a mistake....business as usual....

That's a lot of puppies, can you believe he makes like $1.400.000.00 per yr! WOW! This would not include the adult dog sales or stud services..Okay, wonder how many complaints he/she gets? How many returned dogs and well the list goes on.. I will say the dogs are well kept and the kennels are clean..

Nonsense. Dog fighting is illegal now. It's a felony. Has that stopped it?
Not properly feeding or sheltering your pet is illegal now. Yet people do it every day. Limit laws will only hurt the law-abiding. The others will simply do what they want, when they want. They want to breed, they'll breed, laws or no laws. Enforcement is the problem. And to give government authority to come poking around EVERYONE'S business - I'm not for that at all.
"My major concern is puppy mills, pet stores, backyard breeders ( ones in it for $$$)."
Backyard breeders, eh? Someone with their 1 or 2 bitches lovingly cared for is a backyard breeder? If you make a profit on a litter are you "in it for $$$"? How much profit? Most important: Who decides? You? Me? PETA? HSUS?
"If people want to give up dogs left and right they need to come up with shelter fees of relenquishing a pet."
You're right - people will not pay a fee to drop off a dog at the shelter - they'll simply let it loose somewhere.
"Yeah, they may end up letting them go to run the streets then to avoid such fees but then they should be hit with a bigger fine or time in jail to teach them. "
And just how are you going to find them? They drive the dog 20 miles out into the country and kick it out of the car - there's no way you will find them to "teach them." Won't work.
I really understand your feelings, truly I do, but we must have solutions that WORK. I agree with you: Enforce the laws now on the books. If someone is mistreating 1 dog or 20 dogs, it's wrong. If someone is properly feeding and caring for and training and loving 1 dog or 20, then what business is it of mine? I might think 20 is way too many, but there are many, many people who are convinced that 3 is way too many for one person to have. PETA admits they think ONE is way too many. Again: who decides?

I feel that more breeders should screen their potential buyers. I have read countless websites where breeders don't give sell their dogs to just any one...which is a plus. When all said in done there is a problem through out the whole U.S. in regards to the population of animals and honestly I would like to see something done about it.
