Two Moons

With only these pictures to choose from I too would take the second pup.

But I would take a look at all the other things before deciding solely upon appearance.

i'm sure thats what I would do.

Going by photos alone, #2 is definately top pick, very well put together pup, hope you keep us updated with photos, I'd like to see if he really does turn out as good as that photo is telling us.

Thanks again to everyone for your opinions. They are really appreciated. Sometime later today I hope to go see the pups in person and get some video to study them even further as well as try some drive testing etc......

Thanks again I appreciate all critiques of the pups!!

sportsfan,

also important is to watch for the stride the pups have. Go for the one with the longer stride in its movement. I also like No 2 better but if character and movement of No1 is better I would choose No1.

I was so reminded of my boy Nicco when I saw the pic of your #2 Pup above....I guess that would make this Rookie select number 2 also....

I don't know if the 3 pic's I tried to load will work...but we shall see...if so...maybe you can see why I thought they looked similiar.....at that age.

Yes I can see some similarities in the pups. I missed out going to see the pups yesterday and will reschedule for hopefully later today so I can share some video of movement/drive/etc...

Thanks for all your input,

The first pup is not stacked properly.  not nearly as well stacked as the littermate.  This is what you all are seeing and missing.  The front legs of pup one are not vertically under his shoulders.  His hind legs are not correctly positioned, but his littermates' are.  The head shot, same thing.  Pup one is looking at the camera straight shot.  Pup two is in a bit of a turn which makes for a better shot.  I take pictures alllll day long just to get the best shots of my dogs.

Here a great example.   Would you not believe that this dog would have turned out gorgeous?  here pictured at 8 weeks?

NOPE she didn't.  See how deceiving it can be!   (though she became a k9 narc dog instead, drives up the kazoo)

Very insightful...also regarding pigment if you look at the side view of each pup AND the lady in the background you can see the lighting was different possibly causing pup2 to appear lighter...look at the ladies jacket color ..darker on pic w/GSD1 and lighter in pic w/GSD2 so I agree the stance as well as lighting and pic angles do make a difference seen and unseen.

Thanks again,

I really enjoy all the comments!!

To be continued!!

When VP12 Zeuss was at the Sieger in Bakersfield at 5 months, he was the only pup NOT panting at the end of the ring circus....  24 pups in the ring, 23 pups and their owners nearly half dead, and Zeuss, stoicly standing with his mouth shut.  His handler could not believe her eyes and commented that a) he would have looked better during the stand for the judge moment with his tongue out making his head look even bigger and B) just for his stamina he should have placed higher.

And pup 1 has mouth shut, pup 2 does not.
