Ulli , was this purposeful irony...?  "This is because of their limited english, so maybe you want to give them a little slag"  Had to laugh

Welcome Lynn & as many of the others have mentioned you will find there is a wealth of information to be had from this forum. Do a search on structure, croup or gait and you'll get some real good discussions. As in life you just need to be your own filter.

Moons, what's you new avatar?

Merry Crimble to you all.

If you have the desire to truly learn and the patience to know who has the knowledge to teach you I think you will find this board to be very useful.  Certainly a sense of humor does help tremendously when dealing with some of the bozos but I find it gives me some amusement in breaking the monotony of the days stress in just getting a good chuckle.

Welcome aboard!

Uli, I am honoured to see my name in your post, but you must have me confused with someone else! Sunshine, perhaps?

I only seriously started to learn about this breed's history when I got my bitch 2 years ago (my first registered GSD), and I have certainly never met you in person. I'd certainly be delighted if that were to happen, though!  You are one board member who is always polite, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

When you are out in the real world do you always meet people who agree with you all the time .or when you cut some one off on the road do they yell out  praises or do they show you a finger and swear at you.this no different get over it and jump in and enjoy yourself this a great place to kill some time sometimes and you might learn a thing or two along the way .not a bad deal.besides,it will be very boring if every one was nice to each other and agreed on everything and did not get upset about something.have a nice one.

First off I'd like to thank all those that complimented our horses.   I'd also like to add that the Brit thread was totally fine with me it was more the "wuzzup will u marry me " thread and threads like that which bother me a bit.   I do sense there are some very knowledgable people here and have enjoyed the board on the whole so far.

Since it's cold and snowy  here and my chores are done, I'm going to bore you all and tell you about myself.  I'm in my fifties now but when I was seven years old I wanted a GSD soooo bad.  My parents made a deal with me and signed a paper agreeing that if I still wanted a GSD when I was fifteen years old then I could have one.  They figured no fifteen year old girl would want a dog..just a boyfriend.  Well at 10 years old I got a paper route and at 12 I started baby sitting to save my money.  I also worked for different dog breeders walking there dogs and socializing the spooky ones for the showring (not GSD)  When I turned fourteen my parents realized I was still very serious about this "dog thing" and that I had saved over hundred dollars, bought bowls, leashes etc.  So in 1971 when I turned fourteen they gave me the okay to purchase my dream.  I had found a kennel in the city in which I lived  (canadian showlines) that had a litter due that April.  So May 25 1971 I brought home "Tawny Bay of Bellalta."   I joined the SchH club that had started here in 1968 and that "showdog" got her SchH 3, TD, CDX .  I was told that I was the youngest girl or person to ever train a dog to that level in North America.  I'm not sure to this day if that is true...but I think so.  I was privileged to be part of that dogs life for thirteen long years and I think I cherished everyday of it.  I was totally obsessed with her and SchH training at that time.  She didn't fit into the hard dog types  that were around at that time,  she was strickly getting her degrees through my talent as a trainer and prey drive. (not to brag) We had quite a few wonderful German  members training at that time that really knew how to bring dogs out  through the different drives.   They were a huge influence on me and taught me pretty much everything I know to this day.  I couldn't have done it without them.  From there I trained numerous dogs to SchH3 and was lucky enough to obtain a couple high in trials.   In a short time I was also hooked on the strong German working lines and never looked at anything else. (I did title a rotti to SchH 3 though)  After pretty much 20 years I quit the SchH to spend more time with my girls and their love of horses.  I will always carry many fond memories of all those years and my old German friends..now gone.   My kids are now grown up, but we are still very involved in the horses and I don't have time to take it up again.  But my love for the GSD never died.  I had lost my last chech female in 2005 and didn't think I'd ever get another after her.  Those stong working lines with lots of drive don't usually do well on a "horsey" type places.  Anyways, this last October we were in Germany  for the stallion licensing and I ended up finding and buying a 4mth old pup from showlines.  I thought it would have temperment better suited to my livestyle now.  Having a  high drive dog with the horses and foals wouldn't work for me now. Anyways,  I'm totally in love with this pup now and have decided to do obedience and agiltiy with him...for once I'm trying not to develop more drive.  That part is kinda weird... lol  Anyways, I know this is way way too long but I've enjoyed going down memory lane and am going to take all your ad
