A and A, your request is respected and you are invited to take a spot on the fence. No need to jump to either side. Just trying to maintain some civility here. No, I do not really have a problem with Speaknow. Do'nt know the person. Just really wish that Speaknow would have some respect for the parties that are putting on this Tournament. by7 keeping opinions to him or herself. If it's not positive, take it somewhere else. Take it to a grievannce committee. Take it anywhere but here. Speaknow, as astute as he or she is, should understqand that my Trunk Monkey threats are no more than some humor interjected. By nature, I am not mean. I would just like everyone to behave. Be nice. Not contest. Is this so hard?
One of the best proverbs that I have heard is;"Treat others as you would like to be treated." Speaknow, if you can remain unabrasive and supportive, please remain. If not, please leave. There are plenty of threads that you can find contoversy in.
Many of us know how much hard work it takes to put on a club trial, a Regional or a National Chgampionship. How about lending support to this unique opportunity to see the best of the best? Let's all ask ourselves; "What can I do to help make this a success? Do'nt try and tear it apart.
For those who do not know what a trunk monkey is.......................I am referring to a few video clips that were done a year or so ago that depicted a guy in his car being harrassed by a few thugs. The driver leans over, opens his glovebox and pushes the trunk release button. Out comes a chimpanzee with a tire iron to take care of the thugs.

Hello Speaknow, there are a few people over in the "Meet SpeakNow " thread that are waiting to meet you. They are wondering where you are.

"Elsewhere though it appears to be mushrooming into something entirely different: some kind of owner ego-tripping end to itself, with the training often left to gung-ho characters who’d often do better to leave the sport altogether. It also delivers ongoing fertile ammunition to anti dog sport lobbies and bestows the general public with a totally false and undeserved image of what our multi-tasked GSD is really meant to be about."
Your thoughts and opinons are laughable. Your complete lack of knowledge of training in all three phases is quite apparent. The C phase of our sport lasts the shortest in duration during a trail. Perhaps you should attend a trail as opposed to listening to what others have told you. Serious schutzhund trainers enjoy the bonding aspect of tracking and marveling at the dogs ability to discriminate between target odors in heavy traffic. There is no greater joy then to have a dog complete a task that took dozens of repetitions broken down into small incriments ie. retrieve over wall or jump.
Most of the grip work nuts have moved onto orgnizations that do not place an emphasis on tracking or strong obedience
I don't care what dog sport or conformation event you enter. The podium is for the handler/owner, us. The GSD does not care and cannot comprehend that it has won the Nationals or is a VA.
"Then, the present situation of countless Breeders and other buyers all chasing pups or litters sired by the same handful of top VA studs blights the scene even more. In fact, those vaunted VA’s, superficially anyway, are all starting to look like copies of one another!"
Making conformation a priority leaves function secondary. This is misguided thinking. How many times must the founder of the breed be quoted, "form follows function", "keep my shepherd dog a working dog".
"Many may also ask how emphasizing or selecting for a few isolated specific schutzhund-desired traits (much misinterpreted by the less expert to boot) fits with ever-increasing urbanization, the very communities or families where most offspring end up. "
This last comment by you is quite telling of your indoctrination in the sport, your poor sources of information on training and breeding. Your urbanization comment screams of your disdain for certain socio-economic populations. The fact is you are the one that is "misinterpreted by the less expert to boot".
Some people just don't get it and never will. Having said this I am not going to waste another stoke commenting on an ingnorant, uninformed, mental midget.
Carlos, Rocks! This event is a must attend and one for the books.

ramgsd, thank you. Just wanted to make sure as the dog seemed more mature there than in the obedience video, and at the same time it`s the very beginning of blind search. Good luck to Apache!
I hope everything is going to be all right with this event. It will be a real treat to see all these experienced people with good GSDs more often than we are used to!
Thank you, Mr&Mrs Rojas!
And I really hope that the time will come and Russian team will join one of the events of the following years!
From Russia with love

Fernando Chico Stanford is going to participate!
http://www.2008masterstournament.com/competitors.html
We wish him good luck! (We = Olga & Erko von der Zahnburg . Erko is Mr.Stanford`s late dog Egon`s son.)
Thank you very much, Mr. Rojas!

Well Olga,
You know what that means? It means I'll be doing helper work until I am too sore to even move.
"From Russia with Love"; I didn't think you guys watched "Bond" movies over there.
by allianz on 08 February 2008 - 11:02
Hey Allianz...I hope you won't make trouble and cause the SV judges any grief by being a rabble rousing kurriersnitch. I am really looking forward to seeing this judge from Sweden because he walks it and talks it. He won the WUSV for goodness sake and came in second the year before being beaten by none other than the man, Fritz Biehler. Do you know what kind of opportunity this is? Helmut Raiser might be paired up with Ivan in obedience and Wallace and Dean and Charlie and John Jabina!!! I am sweating to get my boy to run blinds without booking to the helper you know so please keep your paranoia and jealousy to yourself so I can drive down 95 to watch the best gets busy. Please.
Oh, ok I see. So because you get a hard one seeing the big guys together on a field, rules shouldn't apply anymore ?
Schutzhund USA needs more people like you, Patty boy. A real asset for the sport !!!
btw: I don't need to warn anyone. It's not my event, I have nothing to gain or to loose. And I'm sure the SV is well aware of what's going on with their judges, I just hope they realise themselves this will be perceived as inadmissable...

Allianz
why do you mention Sch. USA? What does that have to do with it? Do you work for them?
Who is a real asset to the sport in your eyes? Please let me know and I will try to be like them.
Oh shucks....I won't go watch since you misapprove. Everyone should just stay home the spectators, the competitors, the judges, the helpers.....it's only one weekend but oh jeekers....Big Brother and Rules say this is not allowed. Now Poor Olga won't get her video.

Art,
doing helper work! With Fernando Chico Stanford`s dog! I wish the three of you good luck! (To you, F.Ch.S & the doggie - is it going to be Hella? Or better don`t answer if it`s a secret yet.) Yesterday I tried to send Fernando an email to tell him that there`s a group of fans rooting for him here in Russia now - my family & our two GSDs. But unfortunately the delivery failed. Please give him our regards!
As for the "love from Russia"... Art, you made me blush! I didn`t mean THAT love!

Yes, we do watch films here. We have electricity and we don`t cook on campfire. Sorry if MY sense of humor seems odder than yours.
I really hope everything is going to be all right and the event will be a success.

This is lining up to be one hell of a trial.....its even being talked about on some major dog sport message board in Europe & South America.
IMO, this will be more exciting than the worlds as every competitor in this trial has a legitimate shot of ending up on the podium.
